Adhesives come in many forms –
There’s glue and tape and paste,
Including some that double-stick,
If you’ve no time to waste.
There also are some methods
Which will help things to adhere
In temporary fashion
So a page won’t disappear…
Such as paper clips and fasteners
And staples, tacks and pins,
Among the tools that many need
Before their work begins.
Still, unless you have an editor,
There is no easy trick
To remind a lazy writer
To his topic he should stick.
There’s no accounting for taste
I suppose that’s why children eat paste.
Smell is involved in it too;
Perhaps they grow up and sniff glue?
I won’t rush to judgment in haste,
Because pasta sure sticks to my waist.
Here's how much-sponsored brands get a boot—
Get public's sharp brow, and absolute,
There’s a point here to moot,
A point not in past put,
Nor passed a fair test ere:
Should ads talk in thin air?
For a change, shoes sold bite seller's foot!

Poet’s note: This limerick follows what happened a few days back. Cristiano Ronaldo, a well-known footballer, removed a Coke bottle at a press conference and replaced it with one of water, and soon the company lost four billion dollars in its market capitalization. This does raise a few fundamental questions. India’s home brands, Amul and Fevicol, took a jibe each at these brands. Amul (the milkman of the nation) taunted: ‘Not bottling one’s feelings’; Fevicol (makers of various adhesives): ‘These bottles cannot be removed, nor will its valuation dip’. I loved it. Yes, markets do need some earthy humour in these hard times, a food for thought for them to mull.
Six relatives I could see,
Snug in the word family,
Carrying, a strong message,
Each other they do, happily encourage
Solitary, yet very powerful are they,
Always together, never did betray,
Bound by cords ever so tight,
Rock solid team they made, quite
Can you take a guess?
Are you able to assess?
Who are those six relatives?
Thick, the strongest adhesives.
Allow me, to you explain,
Before you tax your brain,
Biggest support system, they make,
Rock solid not easy to shake.
F stands for fun,
A stands for appreciation,
M stands for memories,
I stands for I,
L stands for love,
Y stands for you
Now I'm sure you can see,
The depth of this word to its highest degree,
Each letter adding its own value,
Stuck together,never do they argue.
Learn from them, musn't we,
To always cherish our family,
When every back is turned away,
Our family is here to stay.

All Japanese people use ancient glacial ice
Mined from miles below the arctic circle
By sophisticated machinery and drills
Core samples are their way of life
Core values is a reason for holding on
Being Japanese is being Japanese
Is being grounded in their condition
In sushi bars and Geisha nights delights
Fine whiskey over arctic ice
Their world is upside down
In fact, the bottom of the globe
Gravity holds Japan in place
Nowhere near the United States
"Ikiai" is the meaning "reason for being"
Turning Japanese is pleasing
I think I'm turning Japanese
Men and women think alike
They would like to live in peace
With machinery and luxuries
To live forever with chunks of ice
In reality we are all just Asians
In need of gravity to keep from falling off
The bottom of the world seems dangerous
Please send the people glue and sticky stuff
All things being equal we need adhesives
It's not easy being Japanese
The contents of a sandwich often plot to escape. Particularly lettuces. Their leaves when chopped can climb well out of bread. So it is always wise therefore to use an adhesives such as mayonnaise to practically glue the contents to the bread. Thus ensuring no escapees. The ham slices always go to sleep though but chicken pieces can fly so shut the bread together very quickly. It is not to say if a jam will run with the butter. It depends upon the flavour. Strawberry jam is far more hesitant than a blue berry preserve so please be careful when making such a jam as more than three blueberries per square inch of pan could cause interruptions for the bread and the butter. Ingredients interrupting intentionally ignoring ignitions. And a circular piece of bread is easier for the contents to escape than a little square slice. So be careful when preparing sandwiches. Now it is time to commute. Goodbye. And good luck too. Have a lovely day. And carry the carton not the umbrella in case of the odd shower. Tape and slips of paper,
holding life precariously,
(thread by thread).
It can come loose or remain steady.
Layers are bound to one another
in such a way as to be easily split wide open.
Life can exist within the leaves of paper,
hanging tight
or roughly peeled off--
(torn in pieces).
My life is very fragile
(vulnerable).
I need tape and glue to hold it together,
to keep my insides from being swept away.
I want decorative paper for beauty,
old photos for memories,
and adhesives for cohesiveness of thought.
