Abuse. Poems

Shadow Waters

Shadow Waters
The water-bearer leans his urn silently,
pours starlight over forsaken streets
where neon lights flash their final confessions
and shattered promises accumulate like rain.
Here in the reverse trickle of time,
where advancement is lost in its own reflection,
the era turns in, searching for explanations
in dregs of what we believed we'd gained.
Electric prophets air hollow gospels
while the crowds scroll

we who loved america

We who loved America

I enjoyed  America and remember touring
a Sunday outside Houston (Texas), met in a café
a group of openly armed, elderly men
They were courteous people one could meet
I understood guns have cultural meaning
In America, we in Europe don't understand
I remember a saying, "A country where the populace
is armed, people are polite."
I stayed on the

         roiling to rabble

         bow lips babble”

smirking …
nonsense danced out of her mouth
and onto the soft swells

Fall from love to death

It started with a smile
A true love a dirty deep love
Panda dunks and bands flying
Clubs and soft skin
Past in the can can you remember

He was so sweet so loving
You wouldnt see it coming
The slow poison
Shes living live laughs jokes with his boys and then

He snapped

The bruise ripened like the fake fruit that sat

Ha ha ha gotcha!

Ha...ha...ha... gotcha!

The imagined intimated response
linkedin to a swindler's
imagined thought bubble
silently spouting you ain't nothing
but a pluperfect sucker...
rendered penniless suffered
courtesy a financial blow
now left forced to eat crow
forfeiting every last red cent,
plus if applicable escrow
being analogous to an indentured servant
denied luxury and security of nest egg,
hence peace of mind to forego
pipe dreams given the heave-ho
resigned to

Premium MemberIt is not so easy being weak

That night marked the moment
When I unleashed my heart and secrets,
Chasing a fleeting joy that ignites
The curiosity of many women.

My self-confidence faded,
As the enemy claimed my heart.

Confidence is about facing
What terrifies you.
I've dared to do it all.

I

Take a piss

Oooh yeah, finally I get to piss
I've been turned up all night
Trying to shake off this girl
And she couldn't leave me for a sec

If it were up to her she'd have followed me here
Saying I might disappear on her like the others do
She almost took my drink for me
I told her I've got

the ending re-written

The Ending

The only tree left in the  whole world
was opening its leaves to welcome
the day to the survivors
Among extinct animals
the Tasmanian tiger, beside the Hubro
They had been friends since 1936
There was no artificial light, and the stars
had paled as night became day
Humanity was missing; it had not made
The transition to a planet at peace
dropped heavy bombs

Mistaken Identity

We judge in others
what we secretly fear within ourselves,
the mirror of hypocrisy polished daily
until it blinds our reason.

I have walked England’s most expensive street,
and as a Black man,
I was clothed in poverty not of my making—
criminal, beggar, illegal—
an identity sewn into me by design,
to dehumanize for the comfort of others,
a madness normalized as truth.

When I

Broken Things

Broken mugs

And broken promises

A broken lamp

And broken knuckles

A broken TV

And a broken stack of plates

Broken drywall

And broken glasses

Broken bottles

And a broken door

This is a broken home

And my heart cannot break anymore

INNOCENT CHILD

Why do harm to an innocent child
Because you want to steal
Their young souls and spirit or take
Advantage because they're
Young and helpless
Plotting to cause them pain
Just because you have a sickness
Get some help or replace your
Sick desires with prayer and stay away from
Innocent children

sparrows are like us

The sparrows are like us
fell from the dry, hot sky, first the male
sparrows, be because he was older than her
and had developed a habit of hunting near
the large chimneys at the chemical factory
and it was up to the young widow
she had been a fledgling the year before
to feed and bring up five hungry chicks
and if

The draconian state

I steal the time and i steal the heart,
I steal the memories and i steal the scars,
I was a thief who stole for love,

But finally they caught me deciding how should I'd punished as I was a thief who stole laughter,
I was a thief who stole sadness,
But it was a crime they said in the

morning sonnet

Morning Sonnet

The news this morning was something new
Greece has a banana plantation near
Mount Olympus, and they  are yellower and
bigger than bananas from Greenland
A British surgeon pleaded guilty to cutting
off his legs to satisfy a sexual need
Try as I might, I struggle to understand how
The removal of legs can be sexually  necessary
On Thursday next week,
...
