When winter winds have withered stubble,
Mother Mary maddens me,
whispering words of wonder:
what are we?
I find the farm a fraction futile,
loving life in Larame:
take the truck to Tucson, Tina
or Tracy, Tennessee.
Aardvarks are mere armadillos,
such as subtle souls can see:
pecans suck for plumping pillows:
chambermaids are chowder-free.
Santa Clara’s not a state,
a splurge is not a spree:
Grindr Graham isn’t straight:
Superior ain’t no sea.

alabaster aardvark allows
banished blue booby
cobblestone cracks
during Dubuque’s disastrous date
effervescent egrets
feel felonious and free
giving giant giraffe gratitude
high-fiving hilarious hyenas
illustrious indigo iguana
jokily justifies
kangaroo’s curious kindness
luxurious llama laughs
mangy monkey mimics
noisy next-door neighbor
ornery oustanding ostrich of Oz
provokes prissy persnickety peacock
querulously quarrels with quick quail
resident rodent rushes
sassily sure-footed and serious
temperate tarantula turns
under universal udder
variegated villainous veins
willingly walk weirdly
‘xciting ‘xacting ‘xtraordinary
yellow yang yaks
zing in zigzag zones, zeroing alabaster aardvarks

affable aardvarks amused arbitrators
brash brazen baboons enjoyed escalators
careless careworn camels circled sissy
dark dusky deputies danced until dizzy
eccentric entertaining elephants enthusiastically embrace
faithful fashionable forest foxes follow a feverish face
gloriously gleeful gorillas gallantly grab a griping grouse
happily, hopeful, they can share with hippos, a house

An aardvark walked into IKEA
Why he did that I have no idea
Ignoring their calls
To try the meatballs
He searched for some ants out the rear
He does ‘civilised’ when he’s able
So found a flat pack dining table
He’d built one - not ever
In inclement weather
And thus it was rather unstable
You don’t see aardvarks wearing wellies
While stuffing ants into their bellies
And if he should drown
While slurping ants down
Would it show up on closed circuit tellies?
He wouldn’t be humiliated
Embarrassment is over rated
The ground was now boggy
And aardvark was soggy
His hunger was not to be sated
So he snuck in to get meatballs - Swedish
He was wet so they gave him a free dish
He ate them real quick
And then he got sick
Had somebody done something fiendish?
The police came and said, “Well I Never,
Was it IKEA food or the weather?”
They found lots of clues
They thought they could use
But they struggled to put them together.

Remark:
Build ark
Rain, hark
Embark!
Aardvarks?
No sharks!
Big spark
One lark
It’s dark
Landmark!
Let’s park
Debark

caramel aardvarks swimming north
pea-green piglets oinking forth
barking spiders spinning looms
elephants thunder -- sonic booms
yellow monkeys pick their noses
perfumed apes pluck pink roses
dwarf giraffe can't find his neck
kamikaze pigeons bombard poop decks
paisley zebras soar into space
mini-rhinos can't keep pace
professorial owls release giant burps
as orange flamingo soup they slurp
i thought i'd take a trip around the zoo
just for kicks, took some LSD too

my days as a
larvae are
largely a
worth
while
living
eating leaves
apart from bark
of fallen trees
life's a lark
except to
mind the
aardvarks and
andvanced
chimps that
surmise this
stick looks
like a tool
but that's old
school for a
feeling foretold
someday my wings
would unfold and
what after all are
wings
but who am i
to think these
things untrue
so a day comes
and i find i'm one
a hard shelled
beetle but in bed
on my back and
can't get up to
use those oh so
useful wings

Took knowledge in a logical way
Took out books starting with "A"
After a few months and a week
Wasn't even close to the "B's"
But I could tell you anything you wanted to know about aardvarks and artichokes
But I kept at it figurin I'll get there
Sat so long wore a hole in my chair
My beard grew longer couldn't stop to shave
And as it grayed I was near the end of the "A's"
Couldn't wait to learn all about buttered beans and brussel sprouts
Well look back now I think I should've
Started at age four then maybe I would've
Been to the "D's" before I died
But in the "C's" I learned how to cry
Cultivate cucumbers correctly create conversations continuously colloquially called chewing cud
I learned all about alliteration ages ago

Aardvarks often
Bubble vicariously
Curiously and hilariously
Dynamite laughter pervades their skins,
Evenly and rather
Frequently
Giggling in their morning tea
High-fiving
Inquisitive
Jittery, jumpy
Kangaroo cousins,
Laughing maniacally
Magically melodious,
Needling opossums undeniably
Opportunities abound
Promoting
Quaking, quirky
Rambunctious,
Scrumptious,
Tittering and twirling on tippy toes,
Understandably fun-loving,
Vicariously and victoriously
With winsome wit
‘X-temperaneous enthusiasm emits,
Yelling as they tease your chasm
Zebras glad they live far away in Africa.

Zapping your xylophone
While viewing unhappiness
The still reverberating quietus
Pounds on my limbo.
Kings jump in high garters
Feathered elands dive
Catching beautiful aardvarks.

Thunder rumbled
And the heavens grew dark.
Noah herded the animals
Into the ark.
From aardvarks to zebras,
From wildebeests to bats,
There were field mice and rabbits
And great jungle cats.
There were elephants and rhinos.
There were cattle and sheep.
There were creatures that wiggle.
There were creatures that creep.
But the favorite creatures,
In God's loving eyes,
Were Mrs. Noah and Noah,
Their three sons and their wives.
