For Constance's free verse contest - life
transportation doesn't always take us anywhere that 'getting away from it all' yet you're there at the end of the journey a burden to yourself like a bad penny yet on occasion, I arrive recently, there was a moment in the woods there was a storm on the way but the dog needed a walk before it hit I felt the need to linger with the energy like getting soaked through was innately craved I sat as big slow rain drops fell feeling an incredible connection to the ground then I left worried I couldn't explain myself if I just stood out in it the moment before a crescendo maybe that's what it was perhaps I was surrounded by an invisible coven of witches or something of myself I'd left in the ether wanting to get back in who knows if we need the lightning strike as our spark of being I don't know what humanity is it's too big a question the knowledge of not knowing feels the closest I'll ever be

You have such a unique yet perfect way of expressing human emotions...I can read the words you write with such a feeling of connection and understanding. "I don't know what humanity is it's too big a question the knowledge of not knowing feels the closest I'll ever be" Love this! Xoxo

Dear dd , so descriptive and so well written this is as always, and i love the flow of your imagery and how it takes me with you, as its so picturesque. And i must say couldnt have said it any better , the ending “I don't know what humanity is it's too big a question the knowledge of not knowing feels the closest I'll ever be” i felt that and i can resonate with that! Pleasure reading your work, best wishes

Who should we be, what a question! wild feral animals just do what they do instinctively, but because of human intelligence many of us (not all) question everything we do and how we look to try find some appealing answers, your poem is probably the closest we can get to the persistent knowledge of not knowing who or what we should be, next thunderstorm we get I’m going out to fly a kite, a thought provoking piece, cheers David

It does wake you up, that's for sure (I learnt with the cup with a metal handle in the microwave grab - as I say, I'm not on your level haha)

I’ll be fine Dilly, I shall use my human intelligence and wear an armour-plated suit to protect me from the lightning, how genius is that!

Thanks David, Many will have described this sensation better than me, I'd love to ask around if it's typical or perhaps falls outside into 'creative' types as I prefer to be called :) let me not incite you to fly kites in the storm though David - I only talked about getting wet, as I suspected - you're another level lol (thanks for the comment, love it)

A profound write, we are our own bad penny, I like that, I felt I could relate to it too, good luck with the competition, D

It should be a message of acceptance really - it's ridiculous other people can like us more than we can like ourselves (personally speaking). Thanks for your comment
