What is this resounding voice I hear Don't inconvenience me, is that clear? Don't ask for things out of reach Don't walk too late along that beach The sun will set, you'll be in the dark I'm disappointed in you from the start I knew the risks as I walked on Towards a just out of view setting sun Just leave and get safely in the car You should not have walked that far I'll find a safer beach for your required view I'll let you know when I've found it for you The words of wisdom might be right I was walking onwards in diminishing light On the drive away the light did disappear I'm probably as reckless as I appear There was a day a few days on We rushed out to catch a setting sun Walked further and with pace (But with tide info, sunset times, maps all in place) I crossed the causeway, to deserted land Watched sea break on rocks, with feet in the sand Marched to the sight and back again Shown all I want I can attain I do silly things, don't consider the time Abide by inconsistent paradigm I don't know why I don't just plan Perhaps I will see if I can Pass you a list of dreams I hold You'll grant them to me seven fold If I just settle and toe the line I'll be looked after, I'll be just fine

Congratulations on POTD Dilly Dally! Profound and sweetened in your unique style of poetry. The voice of reason vs spontaneity, the rebel in ya. The last stanza sums up the silly Dilly. :)

We cannot always toe the line. Sometimes we have to do things on an impulse. Sometimes, we deliberately do things according to our conviction. One cannot call it recklessness ! As ever, a profound poem dear DD. Congratulations on your POTD.

When thoughts tangle around each other, it's best to embrace the calm, like a walk along the beach. This is beautiful, tender and uplifting, all at the same time. Congratulations Dilly, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Congrats, Dilly Dally, on your POTD! I loved the conflict, the internal tug of the internal voice. I sometimes don't follow the rules of consistency either...something about the adventure of not giving into mediocrity. But not always towing the line has caused me many difficulties in my life simply because I wasn't understood. People fear what they don't understand, right? congratulations on the poem of the day. I like the push and pull of this internal voice in this write. "Pass you a list of dreams I hold" line, The poem felt very whimsical to me.

Yes that feeling walking alone on the beach is somehow comfortable and anxiety free, beautifully expressed here in a matter of fact way, yet resoundingly deep and soul searching, congratulations Dilly on a most deserving POTD, cheers David

Always risks associated with stepping out from one's shadow and the shadow cast by others but the reward it that things can be bathed in a new light. This poem seems to explore that tension...very well done....I liked the interplay.
