Quietness In the Shadows

There’s a quietness in the shadows. A lonely place where sadness grows. A place in time where my mind goes. Thoughts and memories are my foes. But I have learned to not resist, for when I do, they just persist. I used to fight; I’d clinch my fist. Shadow boxing, I always missed. Meditating on dark and light, it came to me I shouldn’t fight. Brightest light or dark as the night, their contrast gives us better sight. The reason for simplicity, to deal with life’s complexity.

Hi Bill. Good Morning. Once again you deliver poetry. Never did you stray from your title. It was creative that you expressed both light and dark because there is life and quietness in the sun and yes and yes again there is life and quietness under the moon and her shadows. This is yet another entry to be read out loud with feeling and emphasis. Have a wonderful morning and day. Blessings and Peace to you and Sara. (smile)

"Brightest light or dark as the night, their contrast gives us better sight." So very true. The contrasting experiences of life give us greater insights and condition our life to retain a kind of balance. Bill, dear friend, as ever, your sonnets are enriched with great wisdom and beauty.

I enjoy your sonnet-writing, Bill. It's a true gift. Such profound words that I sense are quite personal. I particularly like the stanza ending with the shadow boxing. I agree, so many times we shadow box with our past. We sometimes can't resist. So powerful. Making this one a fav too, hugs, me
