I Resolve
I resolve to exhale after I’ve thoroughly leaned in
to listen, to understand, to empathize.
I resolve to see the smile in your eyes,
to speak its language, to be sensitive.
I resolve to kiss the ears of God
with real and meaningful prayers.
I resolve to serve with a humble heart,
open to opportunities beyond my current ken.
I resolve to be aware of my surroundings,
positioned for kin, friend and stranger;
glance up from my own circumstance.
