Dad
Tonight I thought of you from a sight I saw
The 9 years of things from you, that saved my life
In ways no-one knows, hours it would take to tell
The things I learned from you spread a million miles
The way you were taken from me is unspeakable
But, what you taught me has created fireworks for many to see
Fireworks that reached their souls in various ways
Too complex to explain now, but instilled in me forever
I am grateful for the shining light of lessons you taught me
From such a young age, creating pathways to the future
You also taught me how to write simple penmanship
Being a public storyteller yourself, look now, I’m writing
There is so much to write in these pages of memories
But from where you are, I know that you see these words
The letters you once patiently showed me how to do
My letters of words written late tonight are: Thank you, Dad
