Circle

since the beginning
-perhaps even earlier-
we became two dots on a circle,
you and I, 
on the circle of like souls, 
both vicious and virtuous,
but never once questioning why

we moved and travelled
day and night
our speeds varied
so did the directions
we ran into each other, 
many times, 
often short and sweet
only not to say good-bye

the circle itself turned
and shrank or expanded
perhaps constantly
but we didn't feel any of that
since we've set our eyes 
on each other only 
as we shall until the day we lie.
