August
The boldness of hot August's sun
Prompts delicate flowers to faint
A sign that nature has begun
Preparing her brushes and paints
Yellows to brown, greens to gold
Beginning with her living room
As autumn's vision begins to unfold
In earth tones signs her nom de plume
Tirelessly working through the night
Painting August's meteor showers
Entertaining the moon with cloudless sight
The light shows lasting for hours
Autumn ushers in her favorite time
As soon she will be sleeping
Occasionally waking for a winter rhyme
But dreaming of spring's housekeeping
