My name is James Edward Lee Sr. I'm an Amateur lyricist, poet, songwriter, artist
Widowed, father/grandfather of three adult children, 3 grandchildren
Been doing my craft since 1966. It's not about fame, glory or profit it's all about sharing God's gifts and knowledge. Got one of the two only published works when I was in the 6th grade a poem entitled "Three Witches" was published in the National children trade magazine ”Highlights for Children". All of my teen life in high school team up with one of my best friends to collaborate on lyrics/songs one of my best friends William E. Davis (if your still around blessings and thank you) He went on to college graduated and became a Director in a Community Playhouse “The Laferne Williams Center" in our city for many years then thereafter promoted and moved to New York
Next in Honors Creative writing class in High School created the term "Short Story Plays:" submitted a piece which was written words, story, character placements/story board plus added lyrics/music score. This was a grade of 1 for that class, And was chosen to be placed at a local College to be acted out. But at the last minute the play got pulled due to censorship. (Which if were done today 2000's it would have been done :)
Play was titled "Mother's Baby Boy" 1970 (had a follow up play called "The 12 Months of May"
Lyrics and Music were creative by me for the plays in my creative writing class in high school.
Now...2014 poem “AT Naught” selected by publisher Eber & Wein publishing company from their sponsored contest. (Selected but not published due to lack of funding on my part at the time so publication was tabled)
It is though entered on the Poetry Soup entry maybe my 1st poem submitted?
2nd published work "This is of my Grandmother" from "Celebrate: A collection of Writings about Women" 2014. A UNO/ University of Nebraska at Omaha published yearly book.
3rd published work getting honorable mention win was the Dramatic monologue poem titled "I'm A Teen This is What I Struggle With" again at UNO/University of Nebraska
My mission’s works is to share my craft give what I got from the all giver God who is the author of ALL creativity ALL word(s). As of now just a hobby ( but you never know could be a retirement/professional thing)
