The "Dog Days" are still here!!

What to Submit?

One NEW, original, RUBAIYAT form poem on the theme of "The Dog Days Endure" ... in these days of rushing to greet the fall, I want you to write about Summer, and why there's no need to hurry the seasons along. Autumn is a wonderfully beautiful and exciting season, (and I love it as much as anyone does), but Summer is STILL here, weather-wise AND calendar-wise, and I want you to use your words to make it last, while not saying anything to besmirch the coming colors and cool temps ...

Life passes FAR too quickly as it is, and even if you live in a place of winter warmth, there must be SOMETHING about Summer that you enjoy, and I want to hear about it! Tell me about the season itself, or something you do this time of year that you'd like to keep doing, or tell me why rushing Summer's exit doesn't sit right with you ... take it wherever you wish, as long as it's something GOOD about Summer still being here, and in Rubaiyat form, (a favorite of mine).

Please do NOT submit an old poem, and do NOT put your name or any identifying marks on it ... Do NOT submit anything other than a RUBAIYAT form, (at least three Rubai, AABA, CCDC, EEFE, etc, meter must be the same throughout, but of your choosing), and make sure the DATE you wrote it is at the bottom. I usually do "Standard" contests, but I like to do a "Premiere" every-so-often to mix things up ... remember, there are only TEN placements in "Premiere" contests. Spelling and grmmar are NOT a disqualification, but it will most assuredly affect placement ...

I've had eleven DQ's each in my last two contests, so please do not submit a poem if you don't adhere to the rules, as those spots can be used by those who take these contests seriously and read the instructions. Soup Mail me if you have any concerns, and thank you for entering my contest! I hope you have fun with it, and help warm the cockles of my "it's too soon for fall" heart! ;-) (A Rubaiyat is a Quatrain with a rhyme scheme of AABA, CCDC, EEFE, etc.).

Prizes

First Prize, Most Glory
Second Prize, More Glory
Third Prize, Glory
Seven other very glorious placements!
