Contest Description

It's time to " Start Sleuthing! "

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to create a rhyming poem about a famous fictional sleuth or their sidekick if you prefer.

Be creative and use artistic, poetic licence. For example, are you a witness or even a suspect in one of Hercule Poirot's big reveals? Are you a guest at a party where Miss Marple works out who done it? Perhaps you are the incredibly, intelligent Sherlock Holmes himself!

It's entirely up to you.

Things you may wish to include in your poems...

(1) What was/is the crime?
(2) What is the setting?
(3) Are you the Sleuth, the Sidekick or an observer?
(4) Will all be revealed or will you leave it on a cliff hanger?

When writing your poem, think about drawing in the reader. Use rhetorical questions. Get the reader engaged, as though they are there too.

You can rhyme your work any way you wish. I'm looking for good rhythm and flow.

Most importantly, have fun!

For an example, take a read of "A Dinner Party At Miss Marple's" in my list of poems.

Happy Sleuthing!!
