Contest Description

What to Submit?

1 original, poem on the theme of .............Scary stories/ Halloween
Any form is acceptable if it follows the rules of this contest.

Submit a mystery/thriller,suspenseful, psychological, spooky, scary, or horror story in rhyme. Near rhymes ok as long as the flow is pleasing to the ear. Rhyme scheme is up to you.

Poems should be 30 to 50 SHORT lines give or take a few, but if longer than 50 lines the subsequent lines should be imperative to ending your story. Please don't submit 50 lines that run the entire width of the page.

If you wish to place, make every effort to stay close to these restrictions.

You can choose any form that falls within the above parameters (rhyme, length, subject), such as dramatic verse, free verse, rhyme, lyric, ect…

My examples are titled, “The Haunting of the Moon”, a repost from one of my first poems, and “Echo”, a poem written for another contest. I hope they might inspire you but I anticipate much greater writing from the talented poets here on PS!

I will be judging on the adherence to the rules I've made but more so on the story you write. I want to get goosebumps! Have fun with this, whether you participate in Halloween or abstain, you are welcome to enter and write a scary story. CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN IS NOT a requirement of this contest.
