Contest Description
What to Submit?
So many poems revolve around the same themes (flowers, butterflies, sunsets, etc.). Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to write a poem genuinely telling of the beautiful aspects of something that may not be broadly viewed as beautiful. For instance, an earthworm, swamps, dead tree...
See the object from a different point of view. For instance, a family of squirrels who call the dead tree home. There should be nothing negative about your subject in the poem.
Rules
- Couplet form only (AABBCC...)
- As with all contests, names are not permitted and will result in DQ.
- Not sarcastic or satirical. Truly discuss the beautiful aspects of your subject.
- New poems only.
Rankings will be based on
- How well the poem reads
- Meter / Flow
- Spelling and Grammar
- Rhyming (fresh and unforced)
- Creativity (surprise me with your topic or approach)
- My subjective opinion (this is implied with all contests, I make rules to be as objective as possible)

Second Prize, Penultimate Glory
Third Prize, Still Quite Glorious
Seven Additional Placements of only slightly diminished glory
