Until I judge the contest list as OTHER so I won’t read it. There are a plethora of forms to use. Try to figure out which one works with your ideas. Sometimes I start writing and then use those ideas in a different way. You might start to do free verse and then think this could be a good sonnet (for example). I hope that if you choose a formal verse, you do it well. Mainly, I will be looking at the content, but the format could make it better. Don’t be afraid to edit. Sometimes I swap two lines because it makes the poem stronger, for example with the final line. The opening line should draw my attention. Don’t make me yawn. Make it a great one. Excited to see what you come up with!
