Women

To self: Today, be mindful of Women.

Without being political, and whether you are pro or con Secretary Clinton, celebrate today the significance of a woman representing a major political party.
I think today of my sisters, mother, aunts,  and girl cousins who have influenced me over the years. Many strong and brave women are celebrating from the grave today. Women have come a long way in their push against "the glass ceiling." We as a people have come a long way.
So, celebrate today not a political party or mindset, but a state of equality, where gender means a little less in determining our leader(s). Apologies, if you consider this blog political. I mean for it to be celebratory only, in tone. It's a wow moment in history. God knows.

Women of the Family
by D.A. Brooks

To sisters, mothers, cousins, aunts
I know who really wears the pants.
Who nurtures, loves with earnest tone
and leads beyond the doors of home.

'Tis she who got me where I'm at
Taught me at the table sat.
She's always held my trembling hand.
Held the high'st office in the land.

So thank you ladies in my life
Who cared and stared down all my strife.
Who taught me what to do and say,
to be a better man today.

For all I am and hope to be
I owe the women of the fam-i-ly.

"Well-behaved women seldom make history."
     - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

"I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naïve or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman."
      - Anaïs Nin

"Being a woman is a terribly difficult trade since it consists principally of dealings with men."
      - Joseph Conrad, Chance

Proverbs 31:26...
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

the joseph Conrad quote is so funny . One of my fave quotes is: Whatever a woman does, she must do twice as well to be thought half as good as a man. (Luckily this is not difficult). Just looked it up. it's by someone named Charlotte Whitton . another interesting blog!
