What's in a name contest finalized.

Blog Posted by Viv Wigley: 6/7/2017 2:46:00 AM

Greetings, fellow croutons,

Humble apologies for the long delay judging this, I've had a lot going on in close circles for some time, and poetry had to take a back seat. I was also completely out of inspiration to write anything for a while.

Anyway,,

Thanks to all who entered, great standard as usual, just a few comments-

'Sallying forth', by Julia Ward ( joint 1st)-

Short and sweet, nice wordplay, and introduced me to the word 'Polyvalent'.

'In search of fify names', by Andrea Dietrich (joint first)

This is utterly charming, reminded me of something from my childhood. I love the style, content, it's lightness . Wonderful.

'My sweet heart' , by Anisha Dutta (joint 1st)                                                                       A joyfully bright little piece, enjoyed.

'What's in a name', by Cheryl Hoffman

Nice little narrative, nice humour.

'An Odd group', by Broken Wings (joint 1st)

This was a surprise, I didn't expect it to ba one of BW's works, it has a tang of deep south about it, New Orleans, Cajun food, allsorts came springing to mind. God, I could eat a Jambalaya right now..... Anyway, a great write and I'm still smiling.

'What was her name', by Gavin Joachims (joint 1st)

This is slightly off topic, but I found it intriguing, fascinating and worth a reread or four.

'She was Violet', by Kim Rodrigues (joint 1st)

Another surprise, but the Mark Twain-ish style (in my eyes) added to the charm, and allowed Kim to get away with some fun puns.

'Marsha Mellow', by Richard Breese, (joint 1st)

Loved the title, enjoyed the style and content, reminded me of Ogden Nash. Great.

'A tale of my Will and Destiny', by James Inman (joint 1st)

Cracking little story, great wordplay, mucho enjoyeroonee.

'A bright young fellow named Ernest', by Jerome Malenfant (joint 1st)

The theme of the competition cried out for a Limerick, and Jerome did it in spades, an avalanche of the, Well done, Jerome.

'Whats in a name', by Miranda Keutner (joint 1st)

Completely off on a tangent compared to the other entries, but intriguing, all the same.

Many thanks to everyone for entering, I enjoyed reading them all, eventually.

Love 'n hugs,

Viv
