I WAS ME

First I was me,

Selfish as can be,

Wanting everything from A to Z

And wanting it all for me.

Then I became we,

A part of an us.

I learned to share, give and take

I learned how to trust.

Next I was you,

Believe me it's true.

I would rather give than receive,

It was you I wanted to please.

Now I am them,

A family man.

Giving my children,

All that I can.

If you look real close,

It is easy to see,

I am older and wiser,

And no longer a me.

Also, BIG congrats to the Seahawks. I'm sure you know this but Drew Brees was Russell Wilson's idol because he is a smaller quarterback just like he is...See you guys next year in the playoffs (Knock wood!)

Hey Joe - My late wife was a RABID Saints and LSU fan. She knew as much if not more about both teams than me. She would get so nervous watching games that she would have to get up and go in the bedroom. Whenever she'd hear me holler she'd yell out 'What's happening, good or bad??' Sadly, she never got to see the Saints win the Super Bowl...

Hey, Tim. Thanks for posting here. My wife says that she thought she was a big sports fan until she started living with me - I take it to the next level. I now have her rooting for my alma mata (Ohio State) and she hates the fact now that she gets all tensed up during their games. Sorry your wife never got to see her team win it all - that is such a great feeling for an avid fan.

Most gals fall into becoming a fan of a male dominated sport the same way guys get to be fans.. via DADS! Me? I like NASCAR cause of my hubby. I am glad to FINALLY see a woman driving one of those cars. BUT I do not like to say that the drivers are all white. Liked your poem and hope you're well. Happy Sunday.

We lived in Gig Harbor for six years, just off Peacock Hill on 109th St Ct. Small world. We still have a couple of friends there that we visit as often as possible. They ran Badger Photography for many years.

Just saw this Joe and didn't know you were a Hawks fan. Me too and my wife...ARDENT fans. Where do you live? We are in Port Hadlock, near Port Townsend.

Whoops! Nope, it wasn't you. Somebody with a last name of 'Townsend' soup mailed me and admitted he was incognito.. I thought I have "solved the case." All in good fun, nothing inappropriate!

Hey, Mark. I live a little bit south of you in Gig Harbor. We've lived here going on 6 years now - just long enough to have grown into Seattle area sports fans. This was a fun NFL year. I'm a big fan of almost all sports.

There is a Facebook page for the Seattle Seahawks "12th Woman" that has posted a few poems from my Seattle Seahawks Collection, so I wrote this poem just for them. It is up on their fb page gathering "likes" and "shares". I finally hit on a topic that is gaining my poems some recognition. Funny how that works.
