I WAS ME

First I was me,

Selfish as can be,

Wanting everything from A to Z

And wanting it all for me.

Then I became we,

A part of an us.

I learned to share, give and take

I learned how to trust.

Next I was you,

Believe me it's true.

I would rather give than receive,

It was you I wanted to please.

Now I am them,

A family man.

Giving my children,

All that I can.

If you look real close,

It is easy to see,

I am older and wiser,

And no longer a me.

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes

Hello Super Soupers.

I have just signed up to put on some high heels and, "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes" to help raise funds in support of a local Sexual Assault Center for abused women.

As further support for this cause, I am going to post a contest to enter poems on this theme - Walking a Mile in Her Shoes - Support for Abused Women. I should have it up soon.

I somehow think this experience will result in a poem of my own in the near future.

Good luck to you Joe...I'm a woman and i can't even wear the heels they wear today...an excellent initiative and i wish you all the best...may you raise a heap (and not break your ankle in the process)...cheers Huberta ps looking forward to your contest!!
