What is the first threshold you cross in a poem?

A line comes to me, I decide immediately to pursue it or not. If not I write it down to come back to days or weeks later. However, if its a go--- I start writing usually non-stop 8, 16 , or 24 verses. If I write the entire poem non-stop , I then proof read it and look not only for mistakes but often may substitute key rhyming words in certain type poems. Sonnets- I almost always write non-stop. With very little changes made afterward. .

No, I have not but I do see great possibilities in that suggestion! And plan on acting on it soon as possible. May even post one that garnered great improvement due to that method of returning inspiration.. Thanks much my friend...

interesting, I write a lot of sonnets and I will change whole a stanza, certainly change a line or two and sometimes near the end may reverse a couple of lines, maybe S1 to S3 and S3 to S1 or whatever lines they may be..Have you ever tried going back on some old sonnets and breathe new life in them by changing some lines?
