Lewis Raynes Biography

Hi, thoughtful poetry and confronting art..... and mathematics, are my interest. Have been writing, poetrying and painting for about 20 years and mathematicing for about 25. Of course we all have thoughts about random stuff often enough, I like putting those random thoughts into verse making sense or putting them on canvas to be a provoker. I prefer all styles of poetry depending upon my mood.

By the way, unless i state that a poem actually occurred to me, then they are all made up, fiction, whimsical, not true events, they are not biographies and only touch on uncomfortable topics to make the reader question things. I believe poetry has the ability to make us question our own morals intimately, like how the bard made us question suicide in Romeo and Juliet.

p.s. the bard didn't do suicide.

What I write in poetry does not necessarily reflect the opinions or morals of the NSW department of education...

Hi Lewis, I prefer the pine needled path vs macadam surfaces, although often with a companion, voices obstruct rhythms of the forest here in Minnesota, this allows me to absorb my interaction with the magic I always encounter & attempt to convey with my poetry, my favorite interactions with people are get togethers with family & friends cooking themed meals, dals, curries, Asian & Indian cuisines...

Existing in Isolation is quite a negation to the poetic mission.A poem takes in raw materials from the society, processes them in an aesthetically manner and gives back a feedback. Stay connected to people, interact with them at different levels, step your foot on each part of the milieu regardless of the differences in terms weather and familiarity. You will be a poet of an added value and beyond what your palm can hold.

My scenario, not begotten. For all else live in a cocoon here, insulated and isolated, honing their poetry in darkness and shadows ... to one day their poems taking flight like beautiful butterflies.

Ty, July. I'm choked for words to toast. And when my earth departs in the wake of mercury rising, and ashes become ashes and I get smoked. It would certainly be poetic to use the pass on being born again.

Like my avatar, the cat, I like to hunt alone but also like to be cosseted by those I like. I construct poetry most easily when alone but it often arises from my interactions with others. For me, both are an enjoyable experience.

I really enjoy being alone with my thoughts. It's sort of like looking in a mirror. That can only be where poems are conceived. So often others can be a distraction.

I wonder what the stats are on that. Poets probably a population dominated by introverts, observers; we are perhaps "loners" by nature. Things that make you go hmm. Fun blog Lewis.

I wonder also, maybe the world has more introverts than anything else also

I m lonely but I always enjoyed it,staying alone is definitely better than having fake friends, I only have three friends, that s all, as for writing, it depends on your way that how you like to write, some thinks while being alone, others can think in public, if you re writing a poem on an experience, through someone s point of view,or from the point of veiw from a society as a whole, you must know about other peoples, their thoughts and thinkings,

yep, ur right, to write poetry about others experiences, or from a different angle its much easier if you get to know them first, cheers Faraz.

Though I am friendly with most, I have only a few friends. I like having people around, but I prefer solitude. Concerning your question about connectivity, I would say the poets would cover the whole range. Some will write best when fully engaged while others need to isolate.

Yep, I think ur right, there may be no correlation between being a poet and being connected at all. cheers Rob
