Hi, thoughtful poetry and confronting art..... and mathematics, are my interest. Have been writing, poetrying and painting for about 20 years and mathematicing for about 25. Of course we all have thoughts about random stuff often enough, I like putting those random thoughts into verse making sense or putting them on canvas to be a provoker. I prefer all styles of poetry depending upon my mood.

By the way, unless i state that a poem actually occurred to me, then they are all made up, fiction, whimsical, not true events, they are not biographies and only touch on uncomfortable topics to make the reader question things. I believe poetry has the ability to make us question our own morals intimately, like how the bard made us question suicide in Romeo and Juliet.

p.s. the bard didn't do suicide.

What I write in poetry does not necessarily reflect the opinions or morals of the NSW department of education...

A question from the generation

Hi, was talking about poems and meanings with my class today when one girl asked "what does poetry mean to you, sir?" I made up a quick statement about feelings but everyone else had their own unique opinion. So my thought is to ask this community, what's poetry mean to you?

It is my only true means of expressing myself, since I have a hard time with communication (even though some think I am doing great ;) )

what does poetry mean to me..it means nothing, it means everything it is a way to see what's not seen, to feel what's expressed from one person to another from a distance,to seek what's unknown through exploration on a journey through the mind, to find beauty in madness recording the human experience seeking unanswered questions and asking those that have yet to be asked, poetry is a seed, poetry is a seed becoming a flower, poetry is the death of a flower, poetry is the flower leaving another seed..it is nothing,it is everything

Poetry is the vehicle in which I am allowed to say all the things that I am not allowed to say

Thank you, Lewis. Last summer I was invited, with another local poet, to help give a poetry lesson to groups of year 9 (Thirteen years old in our system) at a local school. I left feeling that it had been a valuable experience for them to speak to people who write poetry.

To go beyond Prose. To be able to explore the abstract and the surreal. I will bend the rules of grammar (to the annoyance of an English teacher I know) to find a unique expression and to share this with the reader.

The writer's feelings, their images of existence, words singing together in rhyme or without, emotions and seasons, night, day, the Heavens, our ages and imaginations.
