I don't know if this has been covered yet if it has then my apologies. I'm assuming everyone has received their Census forms by now.

Is it just me or does anyone else find this "innocent" government form intrusive with that "big brother" feel ?

Let me know what you think because me personally I don't have a problem telling them how many people live in the home, beyond that they can file the rest of it in the ol' butt crack.

As always your comments are welcome.

I wouldn't care if the government put a microchip in everybody, personally. I have nothing to hide. ***Danielle***

Of course you are free to feel that way and what you said just now, you have the right to say it. I have no problem with anyone cursing the government if they so desire, but why would you want to use name calling like telling a person(a lady who is very likely your elder and to be treated with respect) that they are a robot or a member of a cult? I enjoyed your funny poem that won in the LOL contest. I had always had respect for you. I am sad that you don't see what I am talking about. God bless ya, Andrea

Andrea your free to stop visiting anytime you like, nobody is forcing you to. I will say it again, it's none of the damn government's business what my race is, I am of the human race. It's none of their damn business what origin I am, I am an American. It's none of their damn business if I own my home or I have a mortgage that's between me and my bank. Obviously some on here agree and some disagree. I love my country, I don't trust the government at all no matter what they want.

I think some here must not remember this stuff , but it's been done for ages. Corrine's answer is very helpful. I do not like the mean spiritedness with which you attacked Joyce on your own blog, Eric. Was that necessary? And if you want to use that tone with me, I will not be visiting another blog of yours. LIke Corrine says, Census taking has been done for ages. The only question I recall they asked me was how many people lived at my house. Wow, really scary stuff to reveal. I guess it might be scary if you were an illegal but from my understanding, it's not even used against anybody in that way. Andrea ps Doris has a point that it's redundant, but I guess since many of us end up in a different state from where we were born, that might explain it?

It's not a matter of being afraid of anything. I'm all for finding out how many people we have in the country, I have no problem with that. Beyond that it's none of the government's damn business. I don't understand people's complacency to just blindly give any information asked of them without pause or question. They want to know how many people in my house fine. Other than that kiss my ass.

The Census has been in use in this country for over 200 years. What's intrusive? That's how they know how to distribute money to the states for education, libraries, etc. It's for historical records, genealogical records (I was thrilled to see a copy of a census from 1930 that showed my mother's name at age 8). What the heck are you people afraid of??? http://www.ehow.com/about_5048264_census-used.html

Interesting view Joyce, I suppose you trust everyone and everything your told. You worry me more than the government. Nothing more scary than a robot who questions nothing. So how is that cult your in doing ? As far as fashion of the day, I've been fashionable for years. Rub the sleep out of your eyes dear the government is not your friend.

We get the same type of thing in Canada, and they are really pests, if you do not fill it out and return it, they are on the phone pestering you.... they are determined to get their information... Constance

I wasn't going to tall them anything until I was told I would go to jail or get a fine if I didn't.

Every ten years the census is taken. It's nothing new. The government needs those numbers and there were no intrusive questions. It is just the fashion of the day to kick and scream about the government. Perhaps the lawless days were better? Joyce

They can categorize us into our different cultures. Can I be Lithuanian American or just white. The government does it's share of racial profiling, and Big Brother in 1984 has nothing on the way our Govt collects info. Our healthcare plan will more than likely include placing micro chips into people for statistical info, not "tracking." Yeah! Right.! I'm thinking of including my congressmen and state reps as dependents. Thast would be accurate as they have their hands in our wallets more with each election. Vince

Eric~ I couldn't agree with you more they tried calling today but my husband won't fill out the forms he finds it to be another tactic from the government to get into our business. Laura
