Getting Stoned - Ivor Davies's Blog

I write poetry mainly without any purpose but to enjoy the satisfaction of allowing the written word to have a direct influence on exercising my thoughts and the thoughts of my readers. I am a natural rhyming poet and do not have to think when writing and indeed do not sometimes even know what I am writing about until I read it myself on completion.  You could say that this is mostly pure thought being placed down on paper?

If this covers fact or fiction, serious or humour matters not.  Whether I agree with what I have written or not also doesn't matter as long as it either gives pleasure or makes me and others think about the subjects covered.

May I make it clear that I love comments but do not seek them, it is satisfying however to see that people read my work as I know this makes them question their own views in respet to what I have written.  I also am in no way upset by totally negative comments although I do enjoy 'sparring' with the originators if these come my way.

Now to the purpose of this blog, there are certain subjects that will always have a taboo when writing and if you are in the mood for a challenge can be fun to write poetry about:

Politics - I usually avoid this as, firstly I am not interested and mainly because it is boring and people would die to support their own point of View.

Religion - I love this one and usually post on this to make people question their own beliefs  It will either bring no response or all those who think I am evil and questioning the word of God. I do, however see many people who actually get into useful and rational discusions on the subjects covered.  Having lived in a multi religious country for several years in my youth I have varied views on this which someday I may write a blog trying to unravel my own thoughts?

Spiritualism - Most of my poetry or writings on this are not fiction and from actual events and I just love the way people react (if at all) to my poetry of posts in this respect.  I know several members of Poetry Soup have had spiritual experiences themselves and it is nice to simply share my own views with them.  Others of course think I am a deluded old man, but fail to understand the physical proof that I have had and given to others about the continuing life of their family and friends following earthly death.  Usually though they will ignore my writings and not question what, to them, is an unproved by science?  The one big question I have for everybody to help them make up their minds is as follows;   Have you or does somebody you know and trust totally not to lie to you told you about a spiritual encounter?  Or do you then think they are deluded as well?
