Savor Sunsets in September

The title here is a line from one of my poems. Somehow, it seemed appropriate. Each day I am more amazed how the internet molds and changes our lives. Just before this past Christmas a cyperspace friend of mine passed away suddenly. I got to know him starting back in 2002 on this cowboy poetry website. Over the years we developed a cyber friendship. Just last September we chanced to attend the same cowboy poetry competition in South Dakota. He was from Texas and it a pleasure to meet him. Although only 5 years my senior, he had suffered from ill health for a number of years (diabetes) and had somehow almost become a father figure to me. It came as a shock when I leaned of his death only about 3 months later. For some reason I was incredibly shaken by his passing and felt real grief. And it was all because of the internet and the bond it forms in people's lives. I will not underestimate the power of this form of communication again, and now I will truly try to savor each and every sunset in September and beyond.

Hi Glen, yes - I know what you mean. I feel a great freiendship with some of these people I have never met in person. It just proves the power of the written word. Great blog. Lainie

So very sorry Glen about the passing of your friend. I do not underestimate the power of the internet, as through it, I have become extremely close with quite a few people who I consider to be among my dearest friends. After all, we are living, human beings behind our words and in some way, through this amazing wonder of communication, see even clearer into each others heart and soul. Love, Shar
