To all judges who want names on contest entries

Could the judges who ask for names, please explain to my why they want them? Because it seems to me that the judgement is biased from the get-go if people include this information.
There's NO WAY that it does not influence you in some way to know who wrote what.
It does however, give you a way to EXCLUDE some people from your winner's lists.
Or guarantee your friends a placement.
Is this really how you want the site to work?
Shouldn't the QUALITY of the work matter more than who wrote it?
I've heard that some judges want them so they can notify people of their errors. Well guess what. People can spellcheck themselves and if they don't, you can choose not to place their work. Or, you can search for their poem AFTER you know where you want to place them and notify them of their error(s).
And I don't know about anyone else, but I feel guilty if I don't place someone's work that I know, because I tried the whole giving names thing. I have no guilt now about liking what I like, no matter who wrote it, when the entries are anonymous. It's actually very freeing.
I'm not trying to stir up shit. I just think this issue should be readressed with so many new people coming in and new judges too.
