Grief Contest Entrants Please Read

If you have entered the Grief Contest, please look at your entries. What I am looking for is:

1. How your grief is unique to you - not generalities - be specific, be creative...I feel like I have at least 30 of the same poem, just worded differently. Tell me about your personal experienece and avoid cliches. This leads to #2:

2. Make me feel the grief. Don't tell me about crying. Make me cry.

3. Make sure your entry has 'grief' in the title, is the theme, and is 14 lines or under - please remove your poem if it does not meet this criteria. A line or 2 over is ok, but no more than that.

If you have any questions, please soupmail me.

Please note that you do not have to change your entry. I am only encouraging you to dig deeper to make your entry stand out. You do not have to change your poem if you don't want to.

I was honored to participate in this unique contest,though I lost out but I am happy of the thrill and excitement it afforded me. Want to say a big thank you to Poetry soup, you and the entire poets. Thanks. Hugs.

Hmmm, something you said in here makes me doubt myself in your contest, but que sera, sera!! I sure agree with you that it's so much better when the poet uses creativity and specifics. Very general poetry is monotonous.
