Please cup your hand to complete it..

Housekeeping

I'll do some housekeeping today
Take my broom and sweep the clouds away
There won't be anytime for play
But if you come and want to stay

I'll share a sunset with you...
We can dream of rose and violet-blue
Take my rake I'll draw the night blind
Fling the stars from the shovel to shine

Pull the switch for the moon to light....
To glow on my place, this very night...
As we share the stars and time,
Out on the porch in our prime

Autumn's Dreams of a Country Road

Autumn's dream of a country road
Where houses are few and moving slowed.
Leaves are turning gold_ red_ burgundy.
Inside a warm home apples are candy.
In a barn or cellar cold winter foods quickly stowed
Against winter's coming and inches snowed.
Autumn dreams of snuggling nights when windy
Breeze carries tune;close by snacks_ hot chocolate handy.

Strength

The trip to church on Sunday wasn't long
Down dry dusty country roads closer roamed
Hearts did rejoice when singing love's sweet song
Precious memories now deeply intoned

A home filled to the brim with kith and kin
No evidence of the grief she suffered
When in her youth tales of such loss did spin
By age of twenty-five her life crumbled

Joys of a young bride with husband beside
Darling daughters three in tow~gone~from life
Oh, life issues such hard brazen blows inside
No longer was she a mother and wife

Her faith in a loving God never failed
She had strength of character which prevailed

I have been doing some research about my biological family
I found that my father's mother was married in her youth
and had three daughters which all died as did her husband..
She married my grandfather and then had four sons which
all lived..She never gave up her faith through it all..What strength.

Countdown

Ten is the number to begin
Early in the garden
Gathering herbs, foxglove and more
On her face casual grin

Nine are the ingredients here
Placed in beef stew to simmer
It will be tender, succulent
For his eye will grow dimmer

Eight minutes sear the stew beef
Add some herbs like lemon thyme
Pour in beef broth to simmer down
Let it stew half a day's time

Seven is the count to cook some rice
A soft bed to nestle
Colors a great contrast appeal
Beauty, aroma will settle

Six add carrots, red and green peppers
The slow simmer, leaves crunch
Perfect in shape, color and taste
He will munch, munch, and munch

Five memories of his abuse
Threats, terror, and betrayal
Guns pointed to head even loaded
To public opposite portrayal

Four ladles of stew removed
Add some oleander
To stew on range, and let simmer
Stir the pot, leaves meander

Three flowers from pretty foxglove
Maybe this stew he'll love
Hear his truck come down the drive
Everything's quiet even dove

Two ladles served upon white rice
Her's prepared set aside
Upon a plate over white rice
Stew served that she contrived

One ambulance pulls quietly away
Rushing to hospital
Entirely too late to save the day
A crime? Really Committal?

I watch TV crime stories..LOL

A Ray of Sunshine

In the depths of January's blustery cold
The poet's life in poems slowly unfolds
A mood of blue is often set
Melancholy seems to be her usual cuddly soft pet

But sometimes the table is quickly turned
Out pours some humor that she learned
Maybe she's bipolar like it's called today
At least a ray of sunshine came her way

Wonderful Acrostic

W ishful thinking that He would greet warmheartedly
O verjoyed when strong arms of love wrapped around
N umbed by surprise but lifted by love assuredly
D elighted that He could love even me when sins astound
E mbraced by a warm bright light out of this world
R endezvous with a Higher Power greater than I'd found
F illing full where the Soul was depleted and gnarled
U nburdened, uplifted, united and totally sound
L oved, loveable, absolutely healed emotionally, and grounded

Inspired by John Hamilton's Wonderful-Acrostic poem contest..
