He Was My Big Brother

He had kind eyes
He had a big heart,
He had a great smile
He had a good life start,

He had it good growing up
He had friends all the time,
He had a girlfriend that he married
He had a family by twenty nine,

He had a boy and two girls
He had a dog and a cat,
He had a house on the hill
He had a lake in the back,

He had a job with good money
He had a future so bright,
He had good health on his side
He had everything right,

He had a dark secret
He had always lied,
He had us all fooled
He Died - SUICIDE,

He was my big brother
He was loved everyday,
He is missed in our lives
He's in God's hands, he lay.

Flip Flopping Shoes

Why is it so
When we put on a shoe,

We love how it looks
Because it’s brand new,

Some heels are three inches
And a long pointy toe,

Others are sandal like
With the soul being low,

We squeeze in our foot
In order to fit,

We wear them out once
Then in the closet they’ll sit,

There are so many colors
And shapes and designs,

We’ll put out good money
To own all these kinds,

So when ranking my shoes
From bottom to top,

The most comfortable pair
Is my cheapest Flip Flop!

A Movement

I woke up it was a sunny day
'Come for breakfast' mom would say,
I freshened up, then made my bed
Put away the books that I had read,
Just another day at school
My ride was here, my friends carpool,
We laughed and joked as friends would do
Just a regular day, and nothing new,
We went to our lockers to get our books
Then I noticed a student's suspicious looks,
He wore a long dark coat, and his head hung low
Then I noticed his walk, it seemed very slow,
The warning bell sounded, kids started to scatter
To get to their class, but somehow it didn't matter,
The boy with the long coat then started to yell
"All of you bitches are going to hell!"
He pulled out a gun and he started to shoot
First up in the air and then down by his boot,
Kids started screaming and running so fast
Some ran outside and others to class,
Alarms started ringing, the shooting was loud
I was down on the floor from the smoke filled cloud,
I crawled on my knees till I came to a door
Decided it safer to stay near the floor,
He came round the corner in all of his hate
Our eyes then made contact, it may be too late,
He pointed the gun, it was aiming my way
I raised up my hands and I started to say,
"Please don't shoot me, I don't want to die"
The fear overcame me and I started to cry,
We were lucky that day, no one was hurt
He was there just to scare us, this student named Bert,
We knew he was quiet, a recluse and not liked
He was teased and made fun of, a little bit psyched,
A lesson was learned, about what we say
We need to protect our kids everyday,
The laws need to change in regards to the gun
Our schools need protection, they shouldn't have to run,
Fear of our neighbours should not be the case
Evolution is changing the whole human race,
The new generation is smarter they say
We hope they succeed and begin a new day.

Fast4 50

She's black and sleek
And strong not weak,
She's loud and fast
When you hit the gas,

Her tires profile low
When heated up they make her go,
Put her up in fifth, her highest gear
She's a 4.6, with an 8 cylinder,

In her red leather seats a black steering wheel
Speed is the adrenelin, today you want to feel,
She turns the corners and hugs the road
And never exceeds to carry her load,

With the windows down and the rush of air
You can feel it swirling through your hair,
This is where you want to be
Meet my Mustang...Fast4 50

Latrodectus - the Black Widow

Oh how she spins a web of silk
It glistens in the night,
Her long black legs a work of art
Her body is a sight,

She moves with great precision
As she spins a rapid pace,
For her next victim doesn't know,
What danger they're about to face,

As she completes her web of lust
She views it from afar,
Her legs stretch out in agony
The feeling is bizare,

Her spinnerets are swollen
From all the work they've done,
And if she's very lucky
She will capture more than one,

She hides below wrapped in a ball
Pretending she is shy,
And then an unsuspecting guest
Meets pain until they die...

Best Friend

A friendship had started one day on the phone
When I first met Marlene, I didn’t feel alone,

She asked me those questions in a phone interview
When I thought to myself, “what the hell do I do?”

You gave me a chance to become one of them
Become a new leader and join SCM,

Within months I would join you to work in HR
You would teach me and praise me and make me a star,

You are strong in your wisdom and quiet in your drive
You encourage all others to reach what they strive,

You are open to challenge and all things alike
For example the time that you rode ‘kiddie bike’

Always a friend and a coach and a mentor
You guided the team to see what they were there for,

You were able to help them to work through their day
Support them and hear what they all had to say,

Connections don’t happen without a good reason
Friendships don’t grow without special season,

And I will always remember how much you cared
Best Friend, good buddy all the times that we shared.

A Summertime Friends Get Together

It’s early in the daytime when the sun is coming up
I go into the kitchen, pour my coffee in a cup,

Then I brush my teeth and comb my hair
And I figure out what I have to wear,

Bathing suit, shorts or a cute summer dress
Tried them all on, can’t decide I confess,

I pick out a romper with sandals in gold
A purse and a hat that’s about three years old,

I made up two salads, both different kinds
Goat cheese and crackers and two bottles of wine,

Then I jumped in my sports car and hoped for good weather
Because today is my Summertime Friends Get-together.

Human Race

There is turmoil in this world
That we really can’t defend,

Among the drugs and alcohol
The weaker, they depend,

The racial tension, still alive
And gender issues on the rise,

Harassment comes in many forms
The lives of many people torn,

We see the grief and hear the noise
In schools protect our girls and boys,

And we have come so far today
To raise our voice, and have our say,

Tweet, twitter, face book and Iphones
Instagram, Snapchat and even drones,

Today’s technology, we move so fast
What’s on top, will never last,

The rich get richer as they say
Some just manage day to day,

As generations come and go
There will always be a need to know,

A faster way, a better way, of keeping up with time
At what expense, within this life, to turn it on a dime,

The world with all its problems, we all need to face
Protect, defend and guard, the present human race.

Gracefully Ageless

We are born
It’s a miracle at best,

From tiny little seeds
Then in God’s hands we rest,

As we grow into our toddler stage
We walk and run and fall,

And then before you know it
We’re a tween and very tall,

Soon we find our self in college
An independant twenty one,

Then we move on to relationships
The single party days are done,

We work through life and time goes by
Managing jobs and mortgage debt,

We try to plan our future best
And children we are soon to get,

The hair is thinning and the weight goes on
As we glance in the mirror a story is told,

If we are lucky many years have gone by
In good health, and grow gracefully old.

Father's Day

We celebrate
but once a year,
A special day
for Dad we cheer,
He worked so hard
He was gone all day,
When he got home
we'd go out and play,

He'd help me with my homework
He'd take me to my sports,
He'd be my fashion critic
when I wore my denim shorts,
He did the father-daughter dance
and drove me to the Prom,
He gently warned the date I had
a Lady I've become,

He dried my tears and said soft words
to take away my pain,
He understood it hurt me so
In time the love I'd gain,
My dad he walked me down the aisle
as proud as he could be,
He kissed my cheek and squeezed my hand
And then he set me free,

He was there, for my first born
He shed a tear or two,
His little girl a mother now
His job was done, he knew,
My dad was such a loving man
For sure, that I can say,
He's always with me in my heart
Especially Father's Day.
