Father's Day

We celebrate but once a year, A special day for Dad we cheer, He worked so hard He was gone all day, When he got home we'd go out and play, He'd help me with my homework He'd take me to my sports, He'd be my fashion critic when I wore my denim shorts, He did the father-daughter dance and drove me to the Prom, He gently warned the date I had a Lady I've become, He dried my tears and said soft words to take away my pain, He understood it hurt me so In time the love I'd gain, My dad he walked me down the aisle as proud as he could be, He kissed my cheek and squeezed my hand And then he set me free, He was there, for my first born He shed a tear or two, His little girl a mother now His job was done, he knew, My dad was such a loving man For sure, that I can say, He's always with me in my heart Especially Father's Day.
