Premium MemberCritterature: the Frustrated Llama

The llama has a name that everybody mispronounces.
"The double 'll', it sounds like 'y'," he patiently announces.
"The single 'l', it sounds like 'l'," proceeds his dissertation,
"And a 'lama' is a holy man of Tibetan derivation.
But what I cannot understand," says he,
"Is why it's not left up to me
To solve a problem that's become the worst case
Of mispronunciation in the history of creation,
And spell it 'yama', like it sounds, in the first place!"

Death, When Soul Wills To Part

In thoughts of death when sleep possessed my eye,
I saw a daunting figure, benign still:
I’ve come to escort thee by divine will,
Hope, with thy own wise will ye will sans why.
Scores of my body cells die every day,
A bit of me each moment as ye know,
Life’s born to die, death all along lurks low,
Why just today? I hope you’ve not lost way.

I need come here none of them to escort,
But only when the soul wants to depart,
Let death daunt every heartbeat of thy life,
I usher soul alone to divine court,
To know right time to depart’s subtle art,
As is to know when karmic cup is rife.

Poet’s note: A dialogue between a dreaming soul and the messenger of Lord of Death, Yama, who on death sends his deputies to escort the soul.

Premium MemberBonnie Yama

Once upon a midnight dream
in the lush Andes scene.
Bonnie Yama jewel thief
went after Emerald green
She planned a master scheme
Her need to get away unseen
Stick with her routine
grab those gems, jet stream
Slip through Custom's screen
Go back to New Orleans
Switch cash and the Glean
which she had foreseen
Bonnie Yama jewel thief
got away on New Year's Eve

IF YOU PULL A LONG FACE : Part VIII

IF you pull a long face
On 2019 New Year's Day
While at 2018 stick tongue out of face
You bade Her badbyes, everybody'd say

But if you pulled a long face
On the Eve of New Year's Day
Your Belle at Ball slapped your face
Leave her high and dry on Wedding Day

Now if you pulled along face
Thinking how 2018 made you pay
Wait to see how the 2019 Mephisto chase
Will mock cock eye and good ol' Faust slay

If you yet pulled a long face
All Eve-night with no-one to lay
Stay condemned by contumace
While plea-bargain culprits bray

So if you must pull a long face
Year in and year out up Calvary way
Don't buy taser to ease disgrace
Yama follows Atman just as June May
(2+1+9=12=3 follows 2+1+8=11=2)

Requiem Hymn: Grace of Amitabha

By the Grace of Amitabha,
You shall transcend the Samsara,
This mantra is your Sila,
Your Samadhi, and your Prajna,
The shield that demons fear,
The call that all yearn to hear,
The sword that slices the Gordian knot
Of lustful desire and crushing fraught.
Thus, with one heart in Him seek,
Seek rebirth in Ultimate Bliss,
And save yourself from the abyss
Of the dismal infernal Naraka
By resolving for with resolute faith
The profound Dharma of Amitabha,
His Forty Eight Vows and Grace!
Dither not and seek in haste,
Leap high above cruel Dukkha,
Beyond evil karma and King Yama,
And become a Bodhisattva
Standing atop the lofty Lotus Dais
Beside Amita Tathagata,
Beside merciful Avalokitesvara,
And by the wise Mahathamaprata,
And at that time your mind will know
That you have always been Amitabha,
And your birthright is to enjoy,
Now and forever, the eternal delight
Of the Land of Sole and Lasting Light.

Life Is But a Slide Show

Craving for an illusion
Chasing after phantoms
Life is like moving pictures
One slide after another
Played in rapid succession
Making us but a series of stills

King Yama is the director
Our karma is the script
And the spirits who record
Our every virtue and vice
Are the writers of our role
Of our every weal or woe!

Thus, what is worth clinging to ?
A still, an image, an illusion?
Ponder deeply and look within:
Which single slide is truly you?

Limericak crochetés: Once a shy lost lass so-called Orga-San

Once a shy lost lass so-called Orga-San
Had much difficulty getting what you can
	Heard of fly-catcher
	Good at swatting lair
Gave him a lift bare-back over Japan

Trouble he wouldn’t get off Mama-San
She went without doing what on bed-pan
	Right over Fuji Yama
	Leap-frogged like No-diva
Earth sudden shook Tsunami filled her pan.

Living in eternity

That time has now come
as Yama has reached
With chariot, white horses
to fetch me up above,

Above these soft clouds
beyond those blues,
Another world farther than
any dreamer's reach,

Unending greens in all hues,
vibrant colours of flowers,
Butterflies for nectar in content
one to another, no dearth,

Breeze that carries unique fragrance
enchants mind in tranquility,
Sound of serene waterfall amidst
heavenly garden rhymes to heart,

Fruit laden trees, delicious delicacies,
mouth watering deserts and wine,
Angels smile as fairies dance
magical gates of eternity are open.

I search all my beloved
who must be waiting for me to reach,
Tears scroll down their cheeks
as with flames of passion they greet!

With them magical moments I lived,
reunion with my dears as I die,
God's unending creation, an afterlife,
our souls merges in Him to be born again!

Highway of Heroes -Yama-

People gather around
wait for them to come home,
our heroes of war
their free spirits, now roam.

People do salute them
travel the 4 0 1,
the Highway Of Heroes
sits beneath the hot sun.

It's a dedication
to those that gave their lives,
the long stretch of highway
is there, when they arrive.

I thought it was a great idea, for them to name Highway 401, in Ontario, Canada, Highway Of Heroes. It is a wonderful dedication, for our troops, that arrive home on their way to the Coroner's Office. May our Heroes, always be remembered. I just found this out on the news this weekend.

We Searchers

we have searched
and found
long days filled with longing
searched for small signs
in sandy wastes
under the cruel orb
seeking all but settling on the crudest need
asking in our poverty

what sustains life?
love
god
water
hope

having only water
we moved on
leaving our history on the holy stone
leaving our brothers ashes in the dry wind

what is true?
mountains father stones
god is in heaven for it is not here
all men want
all will suffer

of one mind we decided
god is not here
and we have far to go
leaving our light extinguished
in the earth
we descend

in that shadowy valley
the windbreath does not blow
thoughts do not ignite
spirits cannot soar

there we found Yama
who is no devil
but a wise man
filled with sorrow
but with hope
all he said was

do your duty
as i must
do not love
do not hate
do not want
come to me in time
i am the only road
through this wasteland
through this life
you will find me kind

Death

The yellow worm with elusive legs

And sluggish smell stealing stealthily

Into nerves and veins-

camouflaged under

dark leaves

shining like skin of cobra

It creeps like snail and keeps its

surreptitious advances invisible from mortal

eye,

A gust of wind blows off the candle

church bells toll within ageing cells

Lord Yama stalks trampling yellow autumn leaves

Under his stamping foot,

gates of Hades stand

wide open ,

new growths bloom and blossom

on graves

sucking putrid plasma of his

predecessor,

amnesia saveswalls of souls from

defacing -

Stripping us from the coffin of life

where dost Thou leadest us all thus incognito

Tell us Ye sullen shadow, unmask Thy enigmatic ugly

face

or bestow upon the mirthless mortals

The cursed boon of i,mmortality.
