Call Of The Wild

Yes, I’m the cute little pooch,
You treat like a substitute child, 
Domesticated and to some extent,
By breeding, I’m pedigree styled,
But don’t ignore my ancestral line,
For I still listen to the call of the wild,
And in my heart I’m still a wolf
And this wolf can be easily riled.

The Law of Wolves and Sheep

The only masters of words
are lawyers and politicians,
twisting syllables into chains,
binding the public
with illusions of justice.

International law?
A fragile parchment,
easily burned by power.
The mighty—
America and its allies—
violate it in daylight,
and walk away untouched.
The court that dares to judge them—
a kangaroo court,
mocking its own shadow.

And you, Africa,
you global south,
clinging to Roman-Dutch law,
do you not see?

Memories like lone wolves in the fog interlope my conscious mind
Pedigrees that are hierarchical that seem too cruel and unkind
Energies that are patriarchal that permeate throughout mankind 
Reveries that are anarchical rare contradictions that run through the mind 

Graceful tones of purity that provide a calming of the soul 
Spaceful

WHICH WOLF WILL YOU BE FEEDING

It is impossible when I’m, looking out over the mountains in N. C.
not to feel the influence, the presence…the spirit of the Cherokee.

When I think how in this country and the world…
there is a battle between people who are inhumane to one another…
and those who are compassionate and kind..
up here in the mountains of North

The howl remains

Look what we've done
But why did you?
Look, we've done it
But should we have?

Why this first?
To be more heard.
Just because we could?
We'll describe.

So what about evolution?
What about it?
Is it not the rule?
Who’s to say?

Was it necessary?
We’ll justify it.
But in the silence
The howl remains.

They brought them back in the Age of Dust,
when crops failed and gods went quiet.
With DNA teased from marrow’s crust,
they rose--reborn, and violent.

through shadowed pines and drifting snow
a silver ghost moves soft and slow
eyes like embers, burning bright
