It's Friday night, work's days complete.
But years inform each week's retreat.
Youth 'gives' five days and hopes to 'get'
for two at least (their pace to vet)!
More selfish think all service cursed
and dream the Bible's truth's reversed
(God's blessings earned by 'good' we do
on Sundays sitting in a pew)!
Yes, faith may save, but 'Blind Faith' kills!
Who clothes the golden daffodils?
They stretch toward Sun (do they have thoughts?),
trash pushed aside by juggernauts.
Were Noah's woods what fleshed out ark
or trees (pre-Noah's time) its spark?
To seek true Bliss each servant's right
(All days aren't weekends, friend?) Good night!

WEEKENDS
Summer at pool.
Staying cool, Sis!
Whirlpool of friends —
Laughter-cleanse splash.
Weekends play out every day, Sis!

Through wildflower meadows we skip,
feasting on sunbeams and friendship,
trailing to a river's dip.
Beach towel extended with our spread,
guest seagulls partake of our bread.
Sun our blanket, brunch in bed.
Orange glazed croissants, yogurt parfait.
Fresh picked wildflower bouquet.
Tree shade chandelier display.
Giggles ripple like current bends.
Our imagination transcends
trickling shores, summer weekends.

You called me "temperamental."
You said I’m “taciturn and I'm spoiled.”
We were in the crowded cafeteria,
so refused to become embroiled.
I wanted to say you’re conceited -
a know-it all , with stupid hair and
between your ears there’s nothing there.
But what you said stuck in my head.
No more texts! I'm ignoring your thread.
I have things to tell you - to your face -
and that would be Monday (I'll have to wait).
You think you’re hot - but NO, your NOT
- and I'm done helping you study.
Your jokes are lame
your kisses tame
and by the way - your dog is ugly.

Waking up
Feeling light
Knowing it is weekend, baby
All I want to do
Lots of things
Like finally
Fatigue pulls me
Back harder
Laying on my bed
Deep daze
Damn
Still feeling tired
Anxiety knowing
In my head
Back to work
Mistakes and unfinished business
Heck go away
Needing my own days
The most
Struggling through weekdays
Desiring to breathe
For the weekends
I love you so much
Craving for you way too much
Burst my bubble state
Dragging my weary body
Out
Of
Bed
Getting up
Zombie wannabe
Maybe as calefare job
Sigh in awe
When sunshine appears itself
Real light
On my skin
Wind blows my hair
Real fresh air
To breathe
Good to be at home
Feet on the carpet
Being at my own pace
Humming the music
Brings me joy
Hugging pillows
Embracing its softness
Rubbing all over it
Looking around
Smiling
Walking
Jumping back
On my bed
To sleep some more
Ahh so productive!

From some old country
This is the oddest card game
With rules to make your hair stand on end
No use trying to make sense of it
Just accept that it’s the way it is
Don’t bother asking too many questions
They call it Clabiash quite similar to Tarbish
It’s still a favorite of the Maritimes
Played back in the day
As far back as I remember
Come the weekend let guests arrive
Clear the table bring out the cards
A round of beers before we start
Bids to launch the rounds
Partners ruse and much excitement
Base count one sixty four
Trumped or sandbagging
Twenties bellies fifties
Count your points or else go bate
Absurd rules lead to hot tempers
Misplays turn to family feuds
Otherwise a lot of fun around the table
A beer or two resets the mood
Playing Clabiash all weekends through

We flee
Away from city life
To ancient trees
Forgetting our daily strife.
Where brownies, dwarves, gnomes, and
Fairies befriend tall ones with a jeweled
Knife.
This place is so neat.
There among the trees as big as life
Is a white unicorn. They're not obsolete.
This was such a treat.
Then we were led to the banquette
Where the king of the fairies said. Please
Take your seats so we can begin to eat.
Don't be loose with your drink remember
We have guests use your etiquette.

I just want to wrap my coat around you when it’s cold and open the door for you when we go out on Fridays
Buy you roses and make you smile on Saturday
Let’s dance while they stare on Thursday
And lay down in the middle of the street with the traffic glare for Monday
Let’s make love unique and give our love words to speak every Wednesday
p.s. our days and nights speaking when we are ninety “do you remember me..?”

Weekends
In the afternoon sun
the asphalt road shines like an ice rink;
flanked by green trees that
cast black shadows,
helped by the breeze
they flutter slightly,
soundless articulation a symphony for the deaf
My memory brings me
the aroma of curried
chicken and rice,
but since it is Friday, it will
be smoked haddock, boiled potatoes and
stewed carrots
Still a twenty minutes drive,
before getting home,
shadows merge with the evening and
the ice rink is a memory

Some things can’t be fixed
any other way says Bill
in his bedroom
on the third floor
hoping to get some sleep
after working the third shift.
He adjusts the scope on
his hunting rifle, makes certain
the silencer’s on right
glares out the window at
a bull terrier barking all day,
a dog that has never worked
a day in its life, Bill says.
In another minute the terrier
will never have to either

With the knowledge of extra free hours
which count from the starting point of forty and eight,
the cycle has just begun
for activities to pass through no plan
and freedom to lend me its coveted wings.
Chilling through this tender evening
when calm and its entourage just had dinner,
creating the arena for nature and beauty
to be my most loved neighbours,
in the same neighbourhood
where fun is just waking up from a five days sleep
is a perfect conditioner
to moisten the expectations of this brief holiday.
Even with the gone day’s illumination,
comfort well supported by a wonderful serenity
gives light for the mind to stay happy
and the soul to remain cute
as dusk with very slow wheels beckons
for relaxation to render its full services
then my readily available acceptance
will form a joint venture with it
to make hay while the moon smiles.
