Premium MemberI Wait

Drenched in the glow of sunburst scarlet sky
verdant vale veers at the foot of jade hills,
on gentle slope fawn leaves rustle with sigh,
wafts in the wind to the stream in its rills.

It sketches leaping silver water line
on rocks carving the course of nature’s art,
lucid in lattice of pebbles, some shine
bright, some drape with malachite moss their heart.

Walking long on contours of crystal stream,
of emerald plain’s scene I’ve not lost sight,
see from lilac sky descends golden gleam
of twilight as I watch the fall of night.

I wait for dawn to find me in your eye,
as the whispering breeze passes me by.

If you cannot build a fence, help with a section.
If you cannot build a wall, install the Northgate.
If you can't build a house, try painting the kitchen.
If you can't install a water line, turn on the faucet.
We need not worry about the things that we cannot do.
We are responsible for executing our God-given assignments.

Premium MemberMesmeric Morn

Blazing blob rises with the scenic sun,
rolls radiant up over ocean’s water line,
dimly dark with night’s fading footprint,
sky on hued horizon turns to tapestry
paints pristine chromatic collage,
long leaves’ silhouette frames idyll image,
mesmeric morn brings a new charming day.

Premium MemberDuckweed Crown

~We used to stalk frogs together..
I'd tell her that in every pond
there was a frog king
who wears a duckweed crown..
Every time we spotted one
she'd whisper
"daddy is that the king
with the duckweed crown?"
and every time I'd whisper yes.

She's all grown up now..
a little lost (like most)
hopping amidst frosted lily pads
one heartbeat above the water line..
a thinning soul dodging teeth
still searching for a frog king
with a emerald crown~

Dreaming Again

Diving in seemed like a great idea
Until I saw the light of the pit, at sea,
Below the water line it glows
How deep was impossible to know,

Swimming into the abyss
Could actually be quite dangerous!
Where loves concerned
It's the first emotion we learn,

Because it's the nicest of all feelings,
The best of anything can keep you reeling,
Sure, before time has its way
Of making you think to go away.

Diving in still has its appeal
Until I saw this lights deal,
I never knew it could constrain
So I swum back into dreaming again.

Premium MemberContours of Crystal Stream

Drenched in the glow of sunburst crimson sky
verdant vale veers at foot of jade hills,
on gentle slope fawn leaves rustle with sigh,
wind carries to the deep stream down the rills,

sketching the leaping silver water line
on rocks carving the course of pristine art,
lucid in murmur on pebbles, some shine
bright, some drape with malachite moss their heart.

Walking long on contours of crystal stream,
of emerald plain’s scene I’ve not lost sight,
see, from lilac sky descends golden gleam
of twilight as I watch the fall of night.

I wait for dawn to see me in your eye
drenched in the glow of sunburst crimson sky.

Premium MemberThe Final Wish of a Bus Mechanic

Near the end, his skin turned canary yellow.
The fingers thinner than an elegant cigarette.
His blue gem eyes sinking just below the water line.
Above the bed was a picture of an empty crucifix.
Pointing in the direction of his final breath.

A few nights before he passed, he asked for a beer.
I poured him one, into a dark coffee mug.
The old bus mechanic lightly chuckled...
said he couldn't see the bubbles,
I re-poured into a tall, elegant glass-fit for a royal.
In the half-light the amber halos rose to meet his lips.
I had broken the rules but granted a king a pauper's wish.

The Alarm Sounds

The alarm sounds and calls their names,
To stand and fight the smoke and flames,
They don their heavy turnout gear,
To meet the flames and face their fear,

Driving trucks with red lights glaring,
Into city streets with sirens blaring,
They soon find a house on fire,
And lay lines they will require,

Fighting fire in a deadly game,
Streaming water onto the flame,
With pounding hearts they crawl through heat,
To find lost soles without retreat,

When the flames die and all are safe,
they drive their truck back to their base,
They wash it down and make it shine,
and neatly roll each water line,

They swap stories and write their notes,
and tumble dry their turnout coats,
They hang their gear upon the wall,
and wait to hear another call,

Louisiana Scene Unrehearsed

The sun rises with unrehearsed drama
as an egrets wings its way gracefully
 across the canal saturated
with lily pads near to bloom.
 Nearby the cypress trees weep
in Spanish moss along the shoreline---
their knees rising daintily just above
the murky water line.

A sudden gust of wind carries with it
the fresh scent of rain falling
somewhere nearby---
wafting softly with it the smell
of vegetation in stages of decay.
Frogs croaking in the chorus line
 in early celebration of showers
 promised on the morning breeze
adds a musical touch to the scene.

Premium MemberPearl Diving

Breathe laden islands rise and fall beneath the lap
of crystalline water, a steam graced surface breached,
rosettes crest, their gently risings peaks to cap
mouthfuls of desire whose lower gate's lie unbreached.

Submerged beneath chest's hollow lies a navel fine
the round perfection of its form longs, for pointed tongue.
A sweeter base can't be found 'bove the water line
yet, men would gladly drown to go below hips clung.

Below, down deep, nectar bathes the pristine pearl,
and petals, rose-red gently part in delight.
The heat, the steam the bath, and the lovely girl
perhaps, perhaps, he thinks, we'll make of this a night.

Wild Ocean Park

In the dark of night
The sea is black
The only light
From the lighthouse stack

All the sea’s creatures
Below the water line
The life on the beaches
Where the sand is so fine

Live as one being
Encompassed by dark
One eye all seeing
Wild ocean park.

Premium MemberTropical Paradise

Alligators bask lazily on tree limbs overhanging the meandering rivers
Gentle manatees playfully rise above the water line to catch a breath
Such a delight to see these threatened mammals rebounding

Palms and Live Oaks stand as sentries on the river banks
Casting tropical silhouettes against the orange orb as it succumbs below pink clouds

Across the peninsula on the Atlantic coast, seagulls huddle together
Winter winds ruffle their feathers as they scavenge for food

Even in cold weather, “snowbirds” flock to our shores
Retirees leave their footprints on our white sands
Each day, their prints are washed away as the tide thrusts its wet arms

Premium MemberOcean Calm

As I gaze upon the ocean
Blue reflects on the water and in the sky
The horizon only distinguishable by it's hue
Standing upon a bluff on a cliff above the rough
I gaze upon the ocean with all it's power
Pushing waves hour after hour
The rock face gets battered and pounded
In a un-relentless, timeless beat
The water produces an awesome sound
Almost like a methodical beat
The surf rolls in, and rolls back out again
Foam forms around the surrounding stones
Seaweed floats , swaying with the waves
Along the beach are deposits of shells and driftwood
Above the water line sand dunes form
Resembling a landscape like the moon
Moving with the ever blowing winds
As the tides roll out
Little holes form along the beach
Making a haven for the birds to eat
A feeding frenzy does erupt
Cleaning out the sandy floor
Before the waves arrive once more
I stand in breathless quite
Taking in the ocean's mystery depth.
