Far away across the ocean
a wave
perhaps unique
moved across the swell.
The wind of progress stirred a surge
propelled momentum
unrolling our human story.
As the finite ocean is bounded by a shore
closing the shallows
our wave accelerates
rises to a crest.
Showing beauty in power.
it curls.
It crashes.
Its energy is spent
upon the beach and rocks.
Our life
our growth
will be sucked back
under the following
wave
all our progress lost.
Such is the cycle of evolution
and renewal.

It’s a beautiful day in May.
Morning light comes covered in swirling mist
Piles of silver clouds move above
A cool zephyr blows from the South
Verdant leaves flutter in sweet murmurs
Birds tweet on treetops singing carols of love
Bees hum a resonant orchestral murmur
How these common scenes fill me with delight!
A peace fills me as never before.
It's a brief interlude from all angry strife!
My poems from which each line is taken:
1. A Day in May
2. Nature in Autumn
3. The Unrolling Expanse
4. A Lovely October Morn
5. A Spring Sonata
6. Spring Arrives
7. Gemini Garden- Silent One
8. What Fascinates Me
9. By the Seaside
10. A Silent Night, a Holy Night

Summer is over; kids are back at school;
Everyone is thankful for the cool nights.
People are beginning to drain their pool,
Thankful, there are no more mosquito bites.
Each day is shorter than the day before,
Moving closer to Autumn's color change.
But the forest is still green at its core;
Even though the lack of songbirds seems strange.
Red tinges are spreading amongst the leaves;
Fall is now entering its start-up stage.
And people are unrolling their shirtsleeves,
Like they're getting ready to flip the page.
Little things keep September in my heart;
Such as the fact, Fall is about to start.

He welds and melts, pours and molds
In his "Conversations with My Soul"
He smooths the rough steel of syllables
Into a "Portrait" graced by his "Play on Words"
Unrolling "Scenes from a Countryside" to "That Starry Night"
Whether "October Skies" or "In November" "Moonlight"
So, "If Ever I Don't Know"
which way my adjectives should go
when wandering "A Starry Galaxy"
I follow the "Sinuous Melody"
To cross the river and climb the boulder
While tapping "Gently on the Shoulder"
He finds summer in "A Piece of Winter"
As a friend, brother and mentor
He is welcoming, and when reading your poem
His comments are "To You Alone"
And if you come to say
"I Needed Wings Today"
He will weave lines in a "Distinct Ballet"
As if "It Came Upon a Prophecy"
And not from some stifled "Academy"
Dear John, please continue to "Compose"
Even when "Getting Old is Getting Old"
Without your gift
We are "Too Soon Bereft"
The "Verbal Miracles" you perform
Show how "All of Life is a Poem"
You have been my friend
my artistry sibling,
"And I Am Grateful".

Last year in a fine summer night,
Most of the souls when fast asleep,
I dreamt dream so fine and bright
Like honey drops falling to soul so deep.
I dreamt I became all at once
So remembered and so honoured
And dearer than a rare pretty world
Around and across the world.
Spotless virgins all around me
Throwing roses at none but me.
Cupid unrolling carpet blue
Venus dancing in so many hue.
Ramba dancing for none but me
Soma served in mug like she.
The earth wearing her colorful robe
The moon little shy to peep from her orb.
Diana showing her artful dress
Obama standing with his artless face.
Would that I got fanciers wings
Oh friend!, to give you heavenly links.
This dream I bear still in mind
Words to tell it where can I find!!

Unrolling aroma around,
blooms the marvel of peru;
Yellow and dark peach are their hues
and the red hearts inside never fail to
amuse.
Kopsias the pink beauties,
Ixoras the colourful cuties,
Pin wheels the white queens
Every one happily waves and grins
When the summer sun is about to set
when blowing breeze wipes out sweats,
swinging on the contorted branches, koels sing
melodious harmony to the garden they bring
Rising crescent moon,
roosting birds' tunes,
redolent night flowers,
are tuneful treat to eyes, nose and ears
These are my evening bliss,
which I never want to miss

And I would be twenty in a month
with the confidence that I had the world to explore.
I could see the horizon out in the beyond
and time was most assuredly my ally.
It was a time of opportunities ripe for
expanding my imagination and unfurling my wings.
Youth was this verdant time of potential
and I felt like a magician's apprentice.
I remember the sun and how it shone on my shoulders,
how it would make everything glitter around and about me.
But mostly I remember how I'd look up and the warmth
of the summer sun would kiss my face as if I was blessed.
I remember the endlessly lazy dreamy summers,
how they were full of whimsy as if they'd go on forever.
But soon enough, summer would ripen to golden days of september
and I was nineteen, the carpet of my future unrolling ...

Night roads widen,
dream paths spread their branches.
The Sandman is hobbled
and can only watch.
A tethered mind has spread
fledgling wings.
What appears to happen
behind sleepwalking eyes
is viewed from a fish-eyed drone -
a stretched panoramic overview.
Am I travelling or unrolling
a future map?
Major arteries become sea-lanes
a melting landscape
for the soul of the soul of the soul.
In a distant radio speaker
a voice recites the Koran
in perfect Yiddish.
I may have to awaken
as a more concrete curbside
if these night journeys
keep mushrooming,
enlarging these itinerate routes of reality.

On New Year's eve the snow whirled down
covering blooms and greenery all over town
Came morning's light, I sensed my dread
of taking the shovel out of the shed
Yet unrolling the blinds, magic was glistening
sparkling crystal snowflakes signaling
Me to leap and dance among soft flakes
in downy white on frozen lakes

Swaying in the breeze
a tomato plant, stands
Around the plant,
smile the rose plants
Buds developed on both
soon the flowers bloomed
Dazzling yellow rose
unfurled the fragrance
engrossed bees and flies
twined its stem
to greet its friend
branch shaken friendly
with the cute little
yellow tomato flower
that wedged tiny umbrella within.
Unrolling secrets through air
both vented gleefully
Then the gardner's little girl
arrived, exclaimed at the flowers.
She nudged the yellow roses,
inhaled its aroma,
kissed the petals
took selfie with it.
Unlike the yellow rose,
the tomato flower went unnoticed
Yellow rose felt bad,
could feel her friend's mind
" Ain't I beautiful", tomato flower asked
"You are! my friend" rose consoled
" When I start wilting, they will hate me
but when you start wilting, they would dance
coz then you will turn into tomato,
after all they are the silly humans" concluded the rose...

With my own eyes, I have seen.
The heavens open up.
And the Lord's spirit coming down
Surrounded by luminous clouds of lightning
he stood before me showing me miracles and wonders.
Then heaven opened up and more spirits came pouring down.
Into the church and began laying hands
upon all the congregation
with comforting compassion
Before my eyes, another spirit appeared.
Wearing a long dark robe, he lifted his hand.
And a voice spoke that shook the church.
Saying Moses come forth.
And a great stained glass window came down from heaven.
unrolling itself like a scroll
down into the church
My spirit was ripped away.
from my flesh and was taken up
And I entered into the stained glass window.
which lead to a corridor of unending length
AND I saw the spirits coming down.
From heaven and going back up
And everything was glowing
I could see each atom vibration in harmony.
the light was soothing to my soul.

Cruising southwards to LA from Sac
a midnight filled with songs ‘n Luna,
light-etching hills in a black infernal…
It was a leviathan’s back on which I
felt the tires unrolling a chilled grief ~
Owlish-full, a hypnotic moon, ‘n Dido
reminiscing tunefully about surrender
negating white flags and loves forlorn...
Inside the eye, a wispy face smiled hi
and gently slid open a papery fusuma...
Dazed, I held her gaze, so undead
Round face framed in softest ether
exhaling cool peppermint to inhale ~
Amaranth rains of fleeting gardenia,
mildly-scented dawn's astral gloam ***

The stream lost in tectonic turmoil
Arterial channel skeletal
A pebble poised on the brink
Petrified still
Unrolling inertia
Thwarted by the sands
Of static time
Patina of moist caress
Weathered in the strife
Of ossified life
Existential essence
The primordial building strands
Covered the inert facet
Layer by layer
Grew the malachite moss
Elemental life sprouted
As verdant veil
Wrapping the stony heart
Before turning to fossil
Abrading hope pondered
Would the stream return

For You
I wish you evenings still and warm
Where silence sits with you and peace is born
I wish you mornings softly unfolding
Whispering hope, fresh mist unrolling
I wish you horizons of beautiful dreams
With boats of love to row down streams
I wish you the comfort of a cooling breeze
To walk with you among the wise old trees
I wish you music to feel the flight of your soul
As it soars with beauty, free and whole
I wish you manificent sunsets of promise
Cozy fires to light, glowing embers of solace
And I wish you love...

It returns to haunt,
the dilemma, of disowning
the old version of truth;
when I was searching the parallelism
for the sake of otherness.
The unreturning melancholia,
brings the surreal intruder,
I did not want to entertain.
The insane activity of heart
wants a sin uncommitted.
The flirt eyes like a tulip
between your fingers,
unrolling the tender petals.
Night throws the salt on the moon.
There were no tears.
