Nemesis bird eludes twitcher
That darn wanton bird
magically escapes my gaze!
'Tis a supernatural curse
that keeps it unreached.

Birds are sinister beings.,
They just seem to glare
As if remembering a time
Before we were there
When Dinosaurs ruled
Before the asteroid came
That in a split second changed
The evolutionary game.
Mammals advanced as
Dinosaurs quickly ceased
Leaving behind only those
That retreated to trees.
Using their acquired ability
To agilely fly
And so they became
Rulers of the sky.
I think they remember
I think they know
The state of things
Millions of years ago
When if puny men
Had raised their heads
T Rex and co would soon
Have torn them to shreds.
Birds are sinister beings
Somehow they know
Man’s actions will
Alter the status quo
And they are aware
But they don’t know just when
Man will self extinct and Dinosaurs
As birds, will rule the Earth again.

Spare a minute
to know about
those perky creatures
and their special features
Lifers, twitcher, tertial and lores
are nothing but the birding terms
Introduce, birding to the children,
As that would make kids pen
Their mesmerizing melodious calls
and the raising tunes wake up all
from those regular humdrum
and make us embrace the bliss
They are the angels from heaven
who have the power to turn
even the empty plots into garden
and the frozen winter into spring
They are the one who begin
the jingles in the dawn
and the one who end
the day by doing murmuration at dusk
They make us feel high,
For, they are buoyant souls that fly
which transfer their energy and power
to the one who watches them for hours
So why waiting? Look out
Spare a minute...

I have a curtain twitcher living on my street
Always on the lookout for wandering feet
No secrets are safe when he is around
Watches every movement and hears every sound
I'm sure that he doesn't bother with TV
For our street is far entertaining to he
All the comings and goings at number three
He has so much to hear and so much to see
Some would consider this man a nosey parker
Likes it best just as the daytime turns darker
So heed my advice dear neighbours of mine
This curtain twitcher is spying on the front line

I am a little twitcher,
I feel a bit of a twit.
I get up early each morning
And I have my own little place to sit.
I made a couple of feeders,
I must have done them right,
Every day all the food is gone,
And the frame is covered in (poo).
There is one little blackbird
He is getting very tame,
He often hops right up to me,
So BOB now is his name.
There are lots of birds that visit me,
Blackbird, sparrow and tit,
So it's a good job I get up early
So I've got a place to sit.

Anxious and stressed
Unable to breath
Your heart is pumping
Some peace you need
Take yourself right away
For the whole of the day
To a place of solitude and calm
Where you gaze at the birds
Some so rare and unheard
With binoculars held in your palm
An owl
A falcon
Or maybe a skylark
The joys of a twitcher
Such a tranquil pursuit
And when you return
To the wider world
Your mind is much calmer
No longer unfurled

Birdwatcher
This passionate, keen Ornithologist,
Is an interest, I profoundly pursue.
With the upmost of dedication,
To Black Tern & Long Billed Curlew.
Never a Twitcher, or just an obsession,
Binoculars on hand to observe.
Redstart & Greenfinch, also Reed Bunting,
Come into focus on a birdlife reserve.
Warblers & Wagtails, singing all day,
Sounding so sweet in the garden.
Robin & Chiffchaff scurry around,
That’s my bug meal, if you pardon.
Black Tailed Godwit & Purple Sandpiper,
Great Skuas & Dunlin share low tide.
Petrels & Fulmars, big Herring Seagull,
All I can name from a secluded bird hide
