Cassie the cats-tronaut was thrilled to go into space.
She was one of the first cats to ever be given this grace.
Her parents were not excited to see their baby go.
When she returned, her entire body had an unearthly glow.
What has happened? Asked her mother. How was outer space?
It was marvelous said Cassie, I think we won the space race.
Her daddy thought her glow might scare away a potential Tom.
Cassie did not care in the least, she never wanted to be a mom.

A trochee,
Dum-da,
is used by a poet
tho' very few know it;
a tro-chee is
self-referential.
An iamb,
da-Dum,
to confuse or amuse
or generally abuse;
pronounced i-amb,
is instead a trochee.
A spondee,
Dum-Dum,
is like a black hole;
somewhat hokey,
pronounced spon-dee,
is always a trochee.
A dactyl,
Dum-da-da,
like the anapest
from Budapest,
pronounced dac-tyl,
is also trochee.
And an anapest,
da-da-Dum,
as I understand,
in another fun factyl,
pronounced an-a-pest,
is a dactyl!
DREAMING OF CHRISTMAS
characters on chairs,
ring-a-round-the-rosies.*
in-tro-du-cing…
mr. claus, mr. frosty, o. deer, and self e. elf
silently a counselor ticks notes with a pad and pen,
occasionally, taking a one minute christmas snooze.
dully, he asks, “so what are you boys in for?”
midlife crisis santa goes first, “the kids used to believe,
send me letters. now they send emails.”
then he yells, “old man claus doesn’t understand computers!
woe is me! i’ve been replaced by amazon,” he drolls on.
mr. frosty, on the other hand, thinks himself a cool dude,
but worries all the time. he dreams he’s drowning on a summer’s day.
o. deer, chimes in with a harness shake, “nobody likes me.”
he squeaks timidly, as he takes pictures with his new red nose.
i’m trapped in a dead end job, rasps the elf. claus squints
his eyes and self shuts up.
“well, back to work boys," says santa! because you better believe me
when i say, i won’t foot another bill!”
“aww santa, you do this every year.”
the counselor wakes up to a room without decoration or a tree.
he rubs his eyes, “funny, i had that same dream last year!”

(this is how I got kicked out of military school. hope you injoy!)
I wasn't a bad kid but dad didn't find me cool
next thing you know I was in military school
Mom sent care packages cookies and mellow yellow
then they were stole in front of me by a senior fellew
with my care box empty it made me sad
without my snacks I got really mad!
so with the next delivery I devized a plan
when nobody was looking I'd piss in the can
I knew that my plan was bold
and waited a day for the can to get cold
he came, he stole, he drank, oh the look in his eyes
I sat there and smiled just to pat-tro-nize
my friends were outside laughing and having a ball
as the senior ran out he puked down the hall
he fummbled around in his vomit on the floor
next thing you know he slid out the door
then I laughed so hard felt the pain in my sternum
and thought to myself "that's gonna learn em!"

Angels are hiding
Right in plain sight
fighting the demons and shadows of night
giving us strength
and holding our hand
raising our courage from up in the stand
always believing good hearts will prevail
guiding our souls like wind in a sail
share joy when we're happy
and shed tears when we're sad
with friendly smiles
turn to good all the bad
we see them each day
precious moments we share
never once doubting
how much they care
sent from above
our family and friends
share quietly their love
