balls of lightning
scrape the darkness
off my window
desert hills illuminated
thundering growls
of a grumpy giant
rumble through the night
while my pillow squishes
against my chest
like you
loud huffs and puffs
scatter twigs, leaves and dust
across the concrete
sky's all swollen
and the earth pants
in anticipation
arching up
to meet the clouds
ravished trees rustle
thirsty for so long
dry blades
stand so soo straight
straining to be drownedn¨n
a pregnant pause
while sheets of silent light
splinter into x-rays
of desperation
and fertile longing
she holds her breath
quivering
and the Universe explodes
smashing, crashing
stabbing the ground
splitting it wide open
to swallow torrents
descending drenching
tearing and rending
filling and drilling
penetrating
saturating
soaking and drowning
gasping for air
mad rushing
recedes
into the lulling drizzle
she absorbs
until the moon is gone
mouth so dry
I wake face buried
in the soft folds
of what comforts me
these days
and you're waiting
for the wake up call
you never wake up to

“Thundering fat raindrops fall
Driven deluge in wild squalls
As torrents pelt the thirsty ground
Sheer rain staccatos resound
Tempests fury rides the storm
Wind-swept raindrops leap free form.”
Whispering mists kiss the air
Float on sheer quiet prayers
Murmurs of a zephyr’s sigh
Tiptoe through a misty sky
In rhythms of hazy veils

Tremolo Torrents
Thundering fat raindrops fall,
Driven deluge in wild squalls,
Gossamer drops stream in waves
Quivering mists pour like raves,
Frenzies of clear crystal pearls
Hang from boughs in flawless swirls
Downpours shiver in rain flows
Swallow remnants of rainbows,
Tremolo thunder prepares
Hot ripples through static air
As torrents pelt thirsty ground
Sheer rain staccatos resound
Each drop reflects lightning’s fire,
Pivots wildly with desire,
Tempest’s fury rides the storm
Wind-swept raindrops leap free form.
Torrents of thoughts torment me
Floodgate of distractions rack my soul
Avalanche of delusions
Decapitate my mental faculty
As I muse over the degeneration
That has dogged my beloved country
She manifests every aspect
Of a failed state
The giant of Africa has lost control
Of her Territory to terrorists
Bandits have re-colonized my fatherland
Kidnappers strike terror into the hearts
Of weary and hapless Nigerians
While her economy continues to
Stumble and wobble with ignominy
In the hands of oil thieves
The ancient perpetrators of
rape
Against our father land
Are shamelessly like vultures
Gathering and flying over
The carcass of the comatose nation
To gang-rape her to death
Arise fellow Nigerians and stand firm
Let us take our country back
From chaos to path of sanity
In the midst of fiery crises
I miss cool, shady oases
O, Fountain, spring forth your fresh water
revive my land to evergreen
O, Abdim's storks, will you perch my neem?
O, white-feather, flaunting egrets
harbingers of rain,
and night croaking toads,
I've missed your glad tidings again
In the midst of hot desert dunes
I miss monsoons
and rows of sorghum
demarcated by a sorrel hedge
I miss evening drizzles
and their running clouds
nightly torrents
and showers between sunshines
The grey taps of the heavens are leaking,
Thunder goes ka-boom,
Heavy rains drip drip with lightning streaking,
Zipping through the gloom;
Non-stop, the water flows, forming puddles,
Feet squish through the rain,
Inside our home, under blanket cuddles,
We wish to remain;
At night, the frogs, they ribbit- ribbit loud,
Enjoying the damp,
Rivers flow on streets under the storm cloud,
Showering its stamp;
Praying for this pitter-patter to end,
Rain drumming the land,
How much more torrent from the sky'll descend?
No more can we stand.

When she found mercy,
How gently salvation spoke;
Love like oceans,
Torrents swept away the shores of her shame.
He looked at her
And saw His anointment
But
When He looked at my sins
He saw my need!
Order is unstable, a high state position destined to fail and fall
Keeping things tidy and organized consumes energy
The free fall to disorder frees the energy stored within
Crystal ice melts to drops and drips
A cherished body decays to dust
Buildings crumble to cake crumb ruins
Cars rot to rust
Fires rage fuelled by order dismantled
Stars fall in streaks
Leaves drop, brown off, decay
Disorder reigns supreme
To dismember our cherished grasp for order
Tumbling down all around between our fingers
Making a crescendo crash of symbol cymbals
As entropy swirls and twirls the baton

black soot ashes rush ferocious down drains of desire
We swam exotic tide,
beneath waterfall froth a tumbling of turquoise-white.
A dizzy scented solace creating
chilled cascade, carrying shimmering waters.
Liquid paradise swirls around us,
twinkling, bubbling and reflecting our passionate embrace.
Exquisite freedom releasing tense moments,
bringing uninterrupted lovers bliss.
