Another huge turkey was caught
The big pheasant was housed in the vault
For consumption
Not for admiration
I'm neither talking about the wild turkey
Who’s running for President
Nor the one which is a country
Now embroiled
And roiled in turmoil
I am talking about the noisy pheasant
That we all like to fest on the last Thursday
Of November every year, and on New Year’s Day.
I can’t wait to enjoy its thighs and wings
I can’t wait afterwards to make the swings
Squeak and cry, because we all weigh more
Than before: the skinny, the rich and the poor.

The Puritans were persecuted for expressing their belief
These Dissenters in the New World worshiped, such divinely blessed relief
For the largesse of Native Peoples, on pheasant, squash, corn and beans they dined
As we fondly recall the first Thanksgiving, warmth and generosity come to mind
Yet these Pilgrims allowed no religious dissent
voice disagreement and poof! off you went
They erected their churches with iconic white steeples
As they turned on their new friends as savage peoples
But I shall file this unsavory history away
And thank my lucky stars for this most pleasant day
I am also thankful for kind folks I’ve known, both passed and living
As I wish all of you a genuinely happy Thanksgiving

Plenty of turkey, dressing and apple or pumpkin pie.

Whether or not you live in the States,
to my poet friends, wrought by the Fates,
I sure would like to convey,
a happy Thanksgiving Day,
to everyone, and my Australian mates.
Did they really land on Plymouth rock,
and when they hit it, was it a shock?
I don't know about you,
but I can't wait til two.
I want my turkey* at one o'clock.
Elmer Fudd went hunting for a big prized Turkey.
A Big Gobbler he heard, Gobble near an Oak Tree..
He aimed his rifle, fired a shot!
Missed, Fell back, landed on his butt!
The Turkey saw, ran, and laughed uncontrollably!
