Notes About The Poem

On Thanksgiving Day

I know I'm blessed
and have much to be thankful for
I've lived many happy decades
love and friendships along the way

I look around and see much strife
in many corners of the world
I appreciate the peace surrounding me
and all the luxuries not to be taken for granted

My heart bleeds to think not everyone
has peace of mind for their family
in war torn countries they fear for their safety
I pray for an era where conciliation will reign for all

we live in a land of abundance, not currently war torn. Like you, I feel for those you live in war torn countries or in dysfunctional families
