Carbon dating

I'd been sleeping poorly what with my agonies
needed an early morning nap but
at a ratatatat on the front door I jerked awake and
obediently open up, a respectable couple not
this time trying to get me to switch my energy supplier or
join the young communists but
'We're from The Sun'
asking me if I had any thoughts on the 'Love Island House'

Excuse me what

She mentioned a house number and I blearily
glanced across the road at
the house recently painted in blue and pink
mumbling, I really don't care about it
'Could we use your name'
but I'm not deranged enough to give them that, and

It turns out it wasn't the house opposite but further along
beyond my eyeline,
I'd seen it tarted up with lights
seems it's been called out by a disgruntled neighbour
"The house is lit up like a building from Las Vegas"
and The Sun was frothing at the thought
of a Love Island related story and bothered me
Lee Holloway Towers in his fretful slumbers

Not my problem baby and
I will never sleep again

Premium MemberIn the Mouth of Desire

In the mouth of desire
your words drip fire,
enticing me to the pyre
of a singular quagmire
where you are the supplier
of this drug called love.

Everywhere
I look, I see you. You are
perfect. The same from every
angle, yet you can be many things,
the giver of life, the supplier of all energy.
Life itself follows your pattern, over and
over, round and round. You are in the
colorful, fragrant offerings of lovers. I look
into your shimmering blue and fall in love,
falling inside and down, down, down,
disappearing. I see you in the sky at night,
and grow wild, and howl, terrorizing a
city. I take you for a ride and end up
where I started. Everywhere
I look, I see you. You are
perfect.

Premium MemberGod's Fire

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

God sent a Holy Fire – His Spirit, always higher
On the winds of love and faith,
His unending grace…

God sent His Holy Fire – His Spirit I so admire
On the winds of peace and praise,
His amazing grace…

God sent this Holy Fire – His Spirit to the choir
On the winds of angel’s breath,
His whisper of grace…

God’s love in a fire… His Holy Spirit, life’s supplier
On the winds of peace and love,
Sent from heaven above!

SELF RELIANCE

Never boasted
Always looking
Up to thy creator
His power
Self reliance
Believing he can do anything humanly possible.

Never chased clout
Steady Self reliance
Believing in hard work
Consistence in all he does

Some people's love
Comes with intentions
So; he's steadily relying on self
Without pretence or defence
No alliance
Just self reliance
Only God his supplier or helper.

The opportunity sparked a fierce desire
A cunning liar is trying to conspire
Plotting schemes that would require
Causing the masses tears to flood the mire
The choir sang with voices higher
Looking for a bold lady or noble squire
Capable of mending our old attire
Bake these words in an air fryer
The hissing revealed a situation growing dire
Look a devious flyer is soaring above the spire
Falsely proclaiming tales to inspire
Hiding in the quagmire as an actual occupier
Their words thickening the air like a humidifier
The supplier is attempting rewire
All of us who dare to still inquire
An amplifier’s hum drew the self-proclaimed sire
Who foolishly gazed at stars with his heart’s desire
Each promise made proved to be a modifier
The identifier called it out as a testifier
Through it all the proclamations became slier
We need to rise above the snake oil salesmen’s ire
Buckle up and find the strength not to retire
Find the heart to not back down or tire

Premium MemberHot Air Curse

My new dryer
is defective.
I told the supplier
and a detective.

Socks go in,
but not all come out.
Lint comes out,
no doubt.

What could it mean -
as socks unseen,
and lint, to a percent,
are equivalent?

As clothes toss,
I incur loss -
a hot air curse
'til I put it in reverse.

The Town Crier
Miracle Man
8/21/2024

A life long friend passed this past week,
life didn’t offer much making his life bleak.
Ignored by some, many others were empathetic,
unable to do much his problems were genetic.

He never had a job and he was known by all,
not many days passed without this man’s call.
But he was known as our small town crier,
and he knew Jesus, as his daily supplier.

He was always at church each time we met,
many counted his friendship to be an asset.
He loved his phone and if it happened he knew,
He lived a solitary life and now it’s through.

Premium MemberI Love Colors and I Love to Paint

I love colors – loud, juicy, wild, generously wonderful colors
I wish I liked coloring books, because this hobby would be cheaper
But no, I love paints and canvases. Especially acrylic paints.
I think oils are more vivid, but they take too long to dry.
I am an impatient artist. I do not want to wait three days between colors.

I started this hobby when my granddaughter was nine.
I know because she begged me to paint with her.
She is now nineteen, and I have fifteen hundred paintings.
I lie. I have over fifteen hundred paintings.
I work on my new ones simultaneously.
I am currently working on eight, but four more are lying in wait.

I buy canvases in bulk now, because I utilize so many of them.
I am sure my supplier thinks I am a teacher, with classes.
No, these supplies are all mine.
Coloring books would be cheaper
But I am not concerned about the cost.

I love to paint; it relaxes me.
It gives me a purpose, a mission.
Hours at a time flow by, without me realizing it.
I am lost in the life of make believe and color.
I can think of no better way to end my days.

Truth Love

True love is no longer what she desires
Society's idea has long been retired
One person content with only one other
Make most run away for fear they may smother
Dedication and devotion left to expire SelfGratification and greed transpire
Honest compassion is simply a bother
Loyalty is lacked while lust we honor
Craving respect but theres no supplier
Looking for fantasies never to acquire
A gentle hand to satisfy soothe and  calm her
Not just swiftly strike down sadly leaving her somber
Jaded by jealous jesters and hotheaded liars
Left to believe that white dress is simply funeral attire

What is Ukraine's war really for?
How about funds from rare earth ore
Hear Lynsey Graham shout
"We'll keep Putin out!"
And stash trillions in our cash drawer

Ukraine has 0.4% of the Earth’s surface but about 5% of the world’s mineral resources. Ukraine is one of the world's top 10 titanium producers, ships iron and steel products to Europe, and has ambitions to become a key supplier of the critical minerals Europe needs to meet its electrification targets and cut reliance on Russian energy.

Waterfalls gushing downhill in a violent torrent
During a thunderstorm,
with hefty raindrops relentlessly
drenching the ground,
Storm boisterous knocking
at the door, brings with it a sense of
playfulness and mischief
that can't be ignored,
Time goes on forever,
as a cleanly flowing brook.
via a causal nexus of living things,
anti-time advocate,
supplier of posture,
persisting at all times,
highly conspicuous.
