List of Member Poems

Premium Member ample sufficiency

hunger craves its fill,
until too much makes you sick
the mind seeks advice
until over-full it spills
with space left for creation

all beasts came down,
every friend greeted him.
inside juice kegs lay
mounds nourished others...
people quietly roamed
seeking treasures undisturbed
valuing weathered xeriscapes –
your zoo

Premium Member On Self-Sufficiency

To be self-sufficient is an admirable trait
Not needing to depend on anyone is great
Being able to set one’s own course each day
Free to express opinions, to have one’s say
In my way of thinking opens heaven’s gate.

Deficient Sufficiency

Met have I An Incorrigible,
Who thinks himself The Eligible
For manning of a dirigible:
For all valued posts The Preferable
And The Toughest of The Capable...

To his admirers infallible
But to cheap impulse susceptible
And to pettiness vulnerable...

Yet, has he been quite acceptable,
His best doing to be fashionable
Always after the presentable
His self - image not winnable.
Still, it's been a voice inaudible
Speeches soon unintelligible
From ideas incomprehensible
Only a bit understandable;
In many ways, then, The Sufficient
And in as many The Deficient.

I crouched at the edge of the narrow rivulet
Watching the tiny critters furtively forage
Among the damp driftwood and shiny stones,
Some surely glancing up and seeing my face
May have thought me their god, amazingly,
Or simply curious about life at a simple stage
Like humans might wonder if God watches
From some faraway star blinking back tears,
They thought nothing of me staring at them
At all. But I am sure they knew I was there,
Looking down into their most primitive world
Which, containing everything they needed
For survival, was sufficient for their wellbeing,
And thinking, as they did, their world sublime
Perhaps with basic creek babbling sounds they
Uttered a word of praise and thanksgiving
That, as I crouched, I did not scoop them into
The palm of my hand and quickly bring them
To an exotic paradise hence to suffer and die,
So, I bid farewell, arose, and walked away.

Premium Member Sufficiency-Seal

God is my sufficiency*-seal
With His abundance of generous replenishment
Vanquishing torturous discontentment
For my faith to increase with service-deal.

God is my satisfaction-sufficiency
With His joy of divine comfort’s cheer
Subduing despondency-gloom and fear
For my heart to be glad by prayer-fervency.

*2Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.

Wishing I were a hermit.
Focusing on self-awareness, growth and enlightenment

Premium Member Making Do

Enough I have,
but more, would make do, better still.
Sufficing without icing is a nice thing to do,
but ample sufficiency is defeat, a condescending deceit.
For we all want bigger apportioned portions.
Want more than our fair share of the hearty fare.
Making do is so hard to do, but so easy to see through.
