In the debate between dubbing and subbing
I side with subs to savor the original
mellifluous French, Tamil, Korean, Italian...
Reading the subtitles assists the deaf
and hard of hearing although voiceovers
benefit the blind and vision impaired.
Historically dubbing was employed
by fascist governments to advance
the nationalist agenda. In our own time
the tendency to consider dubbers dumb
implies reading’s the indispensable skill.
My wife reads her mail while watching movies
so she prefers dubs. I admire her mastery
of two idioms simultaneously
but my limited bandwidth favors subs.

Laid still mourners pass, surpasses
Time moves let subs pendant closed passes
Subjoin the beauty instilled blurred by glasses
To be resurrected renewed in the ever lasted

We were four but now are two
We wrote 100 songs times two
Fields and subs and Rigby too
To sold out crowds we sang bout Jude.
You’re getting close to guessing who
I know you’ll get it with this last clue:
I am the Walrus koo koo kachoo

Today we stopped at Subway
and grabbed our favorite subs, chips and drinks
then headed to a picnic table
across the lake from the boat ramp
our favorite spot to watch boaters
set their boats in the water
or practice their profession
of driving them on their boat ramp
we bring a loaf of bread to break into pieces
and throw into the water for the ducks
our favorite thing to do at the lake
watching crazy birds fight for food
and protect their little ones
from other groups of geese
larger than themselves

Male bees are useless layabouts
Gather no nectar or pollen
Can't feed themselves
Have no stingers
Yet World War III
Will be fought with a swarm
Of a billion, billion drones
Some made of cardboard
Mind how the malingers
Have risen, supplanting
Planes, ships, tanks, missiles and subs

Soma Sonnet: Suicide Watch
The steaminess awkward away,
as summer writhe its day of me,
I risk a search that subs my plea,
lies atonement hopeful in play,
~~o save thy wretched soul.
Chains cross my path in front of me,
taxes wrongdoers pensive stalking,
post exhaustive heated walking,
a sign beach closed due to rough sea,
~~o save thy wretched soul.
A morning stalls a zenith Sun,
what life remains why do I hold,
ignored alerts are strong, be bold,
my worth value zero they've won,
~~o save thy wretched soul.
I launched drifting in seas control,
Art hast o save thy wretched soul.

We had a new art sub yesterday.
No surprise.
We have had nineteen art subs since March.
It is the last week of school.
Mr. G the new art sub was positive.
Energetic.
Glad to be here.
Told me he would finish out the week.
That was yesterday at 9:00.
Today at 9:10 I met Ms. Berkins.
A newer new art sub.
I welcomed her, and she said, “I hope they’ll be subdued.”
This is Wednesday
The most challenging day for art class.
The day the 6th graders whistle, stamp, stomp, chant and sing.
Rocking the art room off its rocker.
I said to the other person who sometimes subs in art what she said.
We laughed like loons all the way down the hall.
I am pretty sure there will be a newer new art sub tomorrow.

i guess it depends on the resonance the amplification
when i sang in the bedroom my father shrieked
put a sock in it and i remember reaching for
the pants drawer to find a pair, but i once did
turn away carol singers, but only after they'd
finished their warbling did i thank them and
slam it in their faces, i once called my
mother's friend, feigning to be the fire
brigade, and was aghast when she answered
i told her we were probing into fire alarms
the selling of them, if she was interested
at the school gates, she enumerated the
anecdote to my mother, who glared down
at me as i felt my face go ruby, but no matter
because i didn't succeed in selling a fire alarm
or selling anything, but my mother looked
perturbed when i waved and addressed the
postman, as he actually wasn't our postman
but his route took him to an aligned location
and it stopped just at our street, but no matter
because it would be the socialist workers party
at our door next, asking for subs and my dad
hit the roof, but amends was made when i
returned home without my mother's knowledge
surprised her as she began to weep behind the glass
our parents, all paths lead back to them

Kate watched her two excited kids transform
the kitchen table to a grand display,
the planets and the sun, to enter in
the County Science Fair that Saturday.
Doug soon came in and watched them too, amazed.
“They’re so creative. Wonder what they’d do
if we told them, ‘Our Universe consists
of many joys that start and end with you’?”
She laughed. “I think they’d say, ‘Uh---thanks a bunch!
Can we have subs and spicy fries for lunch?’”

JEANIEMAC
Rub a dub dub two in a tub.
Where did the soap go?
He lay back flat
Right on his back.
While she fiddled about below.
TIM SMITH
Rub a dub dub I fell in the tub.
I swear to you Lassie it's not always a stub.
The water is cold.
I'm getting old.
Come a little closer and give it a rub.
LIM'RIK FLATS
Jeanie and Timmy alone in the tub.
Sounds like a poem which might need a scrub.
I cannot say s*x.
Not sure about pecs.
H**l, the censors might just overdub.
ARTHUR VASO
Rub a dub dub, there's three in a tub.
Sure hope one doesn't give it a rub.
The lassie is fine.
She has two to shine.
EVE ROPER
Rub a dub dub four in a swingers tub.
Girls raised their glass, boys the stilettos subs.
Full of champagne and olives.
Pond koi had other motives.
Oh la la,, that's not the knob it's my club!

I remember a time when I was much smaller,
I remember you having more hair and to me were much taller...
I remember you teaching me how to ride a bike
I remember days at the park and flying a kite
I remember climbing mountains and cliffs out to sea,
I remember times it was just you and me
I remember finding quartz and keeping it for years
I remember me crying and you drying my tears
I remember adventures with big boats and subs
I remember you being there for air cadets and cubs
I remember times that I have driven you mad
I will always remember, I love you dad x

Hunter Becomes the Hunted
World War 2 is still relevant in 2014. Widow of a Kriegsmarine Captain's U-boat still misses her husband. How she wishes he'd had a shore posting and not gone to sea. When he died in his steel coffin, he left a wife and a child. His last resting place is now known off the Cornish coast with two other subs.
All crew killed, sunk by a deep British minefield, 70 foot down. The subs were after coastal convoys, open ocean hunting was too dangerous. As it turned out so was near the shore.
Today in the clear blue water lie three shattered U-boats: U-325, U-400 and U-1021.
Two are hundreds of miles where they should be. For decades family members knew the wrong location. Now the mystery is solved. All sunk by Type 17 mines. The widow's flowers float on the sea where her husband died. His remains and his crew lie dozens of metres down. The sub crews varied from inexperienced to war vets. At rest together.
The uncle of one submariner still grieves and says we never learn from past events, do we?

walk around the edges and meet me at the corner
there is a place that makes some killer 4 cheese macaroni dots
we can order baby back rib subs as well and get our favorite salads with it
please do not make that face at me....i am going crazy out my mind missing me some you
i find myself planning ways to get you all to myself
i find myself on the computer wanting to book some place oceanfront so badly
i find myself writing things that never really happened with hearts of many sizes drawn on all sides
i find myself lying to people i am close to just give myself some type of false assurance
i cannot control the shaking
i cannot control the profuse sweating
i cannot control the urge to free myself sane
i just want to take these rough edges and smooth them all out perfectly
however when it is too late....it is just too late....
tomorrow is your wedding day....and all i can do is watch you walk away with your head held high....without one word to me....
my forever dreams are now and forever nevermore....i choke from the smoke in the air
