Strategists Poems | Examples

Lamb To The Slaughter

Gentle tributary
of a hill-born river
suburban lake caressed
acres of fertile land -
paddy rich, growing fields

Schools of fish raced at depths
water-birds, herons, egrets,
warblers, mynas, pipits,
swallows, shikra, barbets, owls
Bowl that held varied lives

The surrounding city
rapidly scales cloud- heights, as
skilled strategists, land grabbers,
investors, policymakers,
now take her on a ride

The silenced birds, once family
to the lively-living lake,
their provider, now watch
from a mile, her being led
like a lamb to the slaughter

chemical sewers, toxic algae
rotting froth, foam, fumes engulf
volatile, fire-prone, wasted,
water body stands scrapped
A stilled lake, beyond repair

Atomic payback made impact dramatically
Physics split minute energy into mammoth
Allied forces warned Hiroshima, Nagasaki
Destroyer of worlds, Now I become death

Military master, Japan, thought threat outrageous
Devastation loomed, four tonne 'Boy' understated
Captain William Parsons' eleven crew couragous
Strategists secured success in moment awaited

Mortally haunted, Heaven bound warrior, Tibbet
Executed bitter battle's end with dual blast pinnacle
Blood fry in nuclear fire equals life's instant inhibit
Barrel of boiling tar nuclear, dark enemy formidable

Warfare honing hails modern science triumphant
High flying stealth hit dismissive city, Hiroshima
80 000 obliterated in blast's mighty circumference
Spurred surrendour from horror, West's redeemer

War's tragic trail of destruction is never desirable
Japan's lax defense conceded their due fire cease
Bleeding Harbour sped innovation for global survival
Deadly allied attack rendered long needed peace

Hope Should Not Spring Eternal

They held an election and
nobody voted
Politicians complained they
were grossly misquoted
Atlas shrugged
The world unplugged
Slipped violently way out of
kilter.
Tea cups tipped
Newscasters quipped
Walk don't run but please get
to the shelter.

Strategists tasked to come up
with a plan
Went back to the time when
the country began
Senators grumbled
Sarcastic mumbles
Accusatory fingers were
pointed
Who's to blame
What a shame
Blame the system, its alright
we're disjointed.

But another campaign will be
meticulously planned
Based in part on the sweat of
the poor working man
Campaign promise
Faith jaundiced
A silent prayer for a magical
elixir
Tradition rules
A ship of fools
Looks like spoils still belong to
the victor.

Good Mates

Once there were two friends called Dr.Crash Cruz and Dr.Dates
Strategists in resolving conflicts, exclusive in style, good mates
Crashing is taboo for Dr.Dates
Dating is taboo for Dr.Crash Cruz
Bloody a new chemistry in bonding! no fate

Some people can draw
Some people can write
Some people like dogs, others like cats
Others like both or neither.
Some people like to sit out in the sun and chat
Some people like to sleep in and make music after dark
Some people can't tolerate smoke
Some people can't tolerate noise
Some people can't tolerate sarcasm and some
can't tolerate intolerance.
That's like what 5% of 99% looks like
and if I can't post this here,
then where can I?

Bounteous blessings on the tent watchers
the strategists
the dancers
the photographers
the voters
the meat eaters
the ones who eschew meat
the ones who really don't care either way

Bounteous blessings on the people who speak
with their own voices
in the moment
and have the grace
to allow others to do so

Bounteous blessings on the people who after they've spoken
reflect on the moment
and reconsider.
