Premium Member The Guv'Ment Wants To Change My Name

Unruly rabble demolished statues of General Robert Lee.

Now, the politically correct clique is a-comin' after me!

My name is Robert Lee as well and 'twas so inopportune,

That I be associated with the General, my name to so impugn!

The mob wants to eradicate anything to do with General Lee,

Includin' his namesake little old insignificant me!

Besides all of that I'm a Yankee born in the Hoosier state,

And had nothin' to do with the Rebel Cause I'm happy to relate!

So any of you fellers named Stonewall Jackson or John Bell Hood,

Hunker down 'cause a request to change yer name is a likelihood!

Robert Lee (Hinshaw)

Fredericksburg 1862

It was cold that snowy December night, 1862. We took the hill to stand and fight against the Yankee coats of blue. We charged towards their army near the river down below. From the blades of our Rebel swords the Yankee blood did flow. Their troops had us outnumbered that frigid winter night. But Stonewall Jackson rushed the left while Stuart flanked the right. That dreary night we took the town of Fredericksburg by storm, we fought for Dixie the next 3 nights and through the early morns. Death fell upon the Union troops taking many lives. The wounded laid there crying, wishing they had died. And when the battle finished and the smoke had cleared the air, we looked behind and on that hill our flag was still there. And as the sun went down that eve with harmonica in hand, I sat upon that hill and sang, My Home's In Dixieland. Evermore a soldier, I'll fight until the end. And when my war is over, I'll see my home again. But if I should die tomorrow one thing will sure be true. I survived the battle of Fredericksburg, 1862.

We prefer to presenting poetry readings,
In such a way that they will be succeeding
All your needs, wants, goals and desires,
And hopefully everyone these do inspire.

For Christmas, Easter or Valentine's Day,
Each one of them we will find a way;
Comfort souls with pleasance and peace
As your desire for readings does increase.

Send us thoughts, ideas and suggestions,
Feelings, confessions and your questions
You may have pertaining to this email,
But none of us knows how to use Braille.

Should be simple for you to understand;
Seagulls screeching on soft beach sand;
You may be whatever you have resolved,
So best thing to do is become involved.

James Thomas Horn

"You may be whatever you resolve to be."
Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson saying
below his statue at the Virginia Military
Academy (VMI).

Kathryn, It would be interesting if you
had each member of Poetry Revisited
prepare something similar to this.

Der Fuehrer

Der Fuehrer

What I am now beginning to find
Things that appear on my mind
Are what I watched on TV lately
Source of poems written by me.

To be was from what I resolved
(Stonewall Jackson VMI)
Also insuring I became involved
When about life wanted to learn
Behind me all my bridges burn.

If authority and power I relinquish
Another will invariably extinguish
What original was mine and yours
Wanting to be another Der Fuehrer.

Stonewall Jackson

Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees
for surely by waiting we shall see no time gained greater than these

For surely by not waiting we shall see
no time gained greater to us than these

Pagodas temples and soft music greet us there
oh how soft the rain on my face mistaken tears

Expression no longer a protest our bones shall not last
things dropped into the ocean will and must sink to their rest

Crossing the River

Let us cross over the river
and rest under the shade of the trees
for surely by not waiting we shall see
no time gained greater to us than these
Pagodas temples and soft music greet us there
Oh how soft the rain on my face please not mistaken tears
expression no longer a protest our bones shall not last
Things dropped into the river will and must sink to their rest

Respect to Stonewall Jackson
