The Guv'Ment Wants To Change My Name

Unruly rabble demolished statues of General Robert Lee.

Now, the politically correct clique is a-comin' after me!

My name is Robert Lee as well and 'twas so inopportune,

That I be associated with the General, my name to so impugn!

The mob wants to eradicate anything to do with General Lee,

Includin' his namesake little old insignificant me!

Besides all of that I'm a Yankee born in the Hoosier state,

And had nothin' to do with the Rebel Cause I'm happy to relate!

So any of you fellers named Stonewall Jackson or John Bell Hood,

Hunker down 'cause a request to change yer name is a likelihood!

Robert Lee (Hinshaw)

G’day Bob … I don’t know what makes people think they can hide history. Tearing down statues is no different to what those madmen ISIS did in the Middle East. There is so much madness in this world today Bob - Lindsay

Well written Roberts..the odd thing is......that many in the most radical LEFt fringes have these names. When will we be painted different colors? Kids cannot be boys or girs. Holidays are Verboten. Being a male~ you are presumed evil, as well. It was a funny poem, but we all are being told we are evil because of our race, religion, or monetary status. And if you have a clean record...you are really bad. "Nuts, Inc " on the once shiny City on the Hill. Pangie EE

Thank you, Pangie. Thankfully, this is a fictional write - see my comments to Milton's comments - Bob

This is so funny!!! I enjoyed reading it from first to last word. But, I wouldn't get too excited, Robert, because I think your name is safe. Still laughing....

Glad you enjoyed, Milton. Strictly a fictional write but one never knows what can transpire in these crazy days! Another thing I'm concerned about. My rank in the AF was CHIEF Master Sergeant and once a chief always a chief. Now I fear the Indians will be after my scalp - ha!

Oh my goodness! Who'd have thought we'd be living in times as ridiculous as these? Great write, Bob, or should I say Robert Lee? Blessings, Kim M
