Son, please stay home for Christmas day,
You are often out in trouble and out at play;
Let's celebrate with our kith and kin
Sharing some cookies and hot tea
Sitting by the fire or near the tree;
Stay home for Christmas, son
Set aside your plans of running away
Stick around with us, stick with me.

Watch two older people
Struggle with technology
When applying for a visa -
Yes, I mean my spouse and me.
You will laugh at their ineptitude
When working on the app
As they try to scan a passport page
And each repeated tap
Is rejected, so they try once more
To find the blasted chip,
Wond’ring if it’s really worth it
To be going on this trip.
If you stick around, you’ll get to see
When they are almost done,
That a message will pop up to say,
As if it’s all been fun,
That there seems to be a problem
So they’ll have to start again.
An emoji for frustration
Might describe what happens then.
Yet, despite their stress, they manage,
Only screaming just a bit,
To complete the forms requested
And successfully submit.

I’m waiting for the bus.
Ain’t nothing to discuss,
ain’t no more dumbing-down.
You’re super-pissed-off-plus?
Well that makes two of us.
I’m heading out of town.
Ain’t no more fight or fuss
(who taught me how to cuss?)
Don’t want to stick around.
A little bar that sells cold beer,
that’s where I intend to steer,
or any place but here.
I need a change of atmosphere
and I ain’t gonna reappear:
the round-trip costs too dear.
I’m sitting at the stop
outside the betting shop,
and all I’ve got’s a song.
Yeah, do it. Call the cops.
There ain’t no crime called “swaps”.
Ain’t me who done you wrong.
Don’t mind them open-tops,
don’t matter where it drops:
first bus that comes along.

One may see puffins and parrots
any hour of the week
both birds bear a big colourful beak
the former pelagic feed on fish
and live in large colonies on coastal cliffs
tho' monogamous collectively breed as a bunch
but with renown as the Atlantic sea clown
in Iceland several are served as lunch
the latter arboreal primarily frugivorous
toco being by far the largest
are opportunistic and occasionally omnivorous
to a few prudes it may seem unseemly or rude
and yet if they stick around they'll later get down
as their chicks are seen to hatch in the nude
these avians may fly high in the sky
have the same such things as two wings and legs
and of each species the female lays eggs
but that's where similarity does stop
one puffin can do more than toucan do
in more or less of a day
after mating its pecker turns grey
and without waiting its bill it will drop

I would
Wish you
The worst
But yours
Came true
First
Feels like
That red light
Gets longer every day
Though I can’t
Help but stare
At the place I last kissed you
Counting
The cars
In the driveway
Making note
Of the purple bike
Left in the grass
Picturing
The perfect happenstance
That you would be there
With the devil’s music
As your dad always called it
Vibrating my speakers
The slow motion
Of realization
Would cross your face
While my breath
Gets scared
And hides in my throat
But I pretend
I don’t
Notice at all
Focusing on the blink
Of green
That reminds me to take the right road
Just keep driving on
Let the world
Around me become a fast paced blur
Because the things
That are meant to stick around
Will forever remain in focus
A destination
Worth
Running towards
While things
Like you
Are better in the rearview

Please don't abandon this life so soon
Before blossoms spill their sweet perfume
Wait with me for morning's garden song
that gently reminds we each belong.
Watch as sun dances over each hill,
waking sleepy fields, lilac and still.
We'll run through a field of marigolds,
splash in a stream that defies control.
We are so lucky to have this chance
to share such beauty in a small glance.
Don't abandon hope, for there is more
waiting on sandy sparkles of shore.
Love and beauty are everywhere
just hoping to find someone to share.
Please stick around for joy is random,
and it will find you. Don't abandon!

“Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb”
something that I will tell my future daughter
family is good
but friends choose you
your family has to stick around
your friends choose to
when everything goes to hell,
your friends are the ones who cope with losing you
when all else fails,
your friends are the ones who stood by you
your family might be one in the same blood
but your friends know your stories,
your friends know your soul,
they are the ones who will never go.

You have a knack for making every bone in my brain ache.
If I stick around they'll surely snap like twigs.
I wonder what bones haven't mended in your brain
for you to mar mine.
Must have been hard for you
to become so merciless.
I hope I don't become the same
I hope...

Trying to say how I feel
Wanting you to know
This love is real
Taking me by the hand
You listen so closely
I feel you understand
Holding you that certain way
Thinking of ways to say
That I want you everyday
The dimples in your smile
That distract me for awhile
And every single one
Of that goofy free-style
And when I hear your laugh breakthrough
I feel a joy that’s really true
Something that doesn’t feel one-sided
A sense that we are ignited
Like when a flame meets a match
We are united
The secret memories we hold
And how we were so bold
With you I can’t be self controlled
Somehow I know we’re bound
So through every up and down
With you I’ll stick around

We showcased our hearts and wounds to each other in hopes we would stick around to see better shapes.
I didn't get to trace all of you with my fingertips, unfortunately you shredded some pages that you tore out of our book and kept not all the details in one place.
But the story of us can't exactly be erased.
You see, the narrative I have is right in front of your face.
I guess it goes to show I took us more seriously.
Maybe I was actually a placeholder for her.
And you can twist the words and dim the light on my growth.
But don't forget that I am a moonflower, and I grow at night in the darkest of the hours.

No one knows how sad you are
Till it's gone way too far.
Till it comes out as anger
Then you become the monster...
Maybe, just maybe, instead of looking at me like I'm a piece of $#!^
Maybe see that my outbursts aren't just me throwing a fit.
Maybe see that all that anger has been building up from the pain I feel Till I cant handle it.
Cause instead of crying, I yell
I turn pain into anger, then I raise hell.
I can't control it, if you couldn't tell
So while I'm at it, burn the bridges, might as well.
And the only reason I stick around
Is because there's a piece of me holding on to hope
Hope that you'll someday finally see
That I don't deserve the way you've treated me
Maybe see that all this anger and rage
Has been building up from feeling so much pain
Everything that has happened keeps running through my brain
I just want to know why so I can break this chain
Cause instead of falling to pieces, I yell
I'm tired of all the lies, if you couldn't tell
It feels like everyone is under some spell
Cause when I was on the edge, you pushed, I fell
To be continued...

Raindrops are like Teardrops
Giving life to those in need
Every flower, every weed
Raindrops glisten
While Teardrops listen
Raindrops sprinkle
While Teardrops twinkle
Raindrops may become a downpour
Or too few to stick around for
Teardrops can fill an ocean
Or may only show one
While Teardrops may ruin your day
Raindrops will wash those teardrops away
Raindrops may be the perfect gift
Yet, fallen teardrops tend to uplift
Raindrops, from every hill to each mountain top
Teardrops, for any emotional backdrop
When raindrops come & take away your sun
It's a great time to snuggle with someone
Or, go puddle-splashing & have some fun
When all of your teardrops have been cried
Stand tall & dignified
Because you know you tried

Could have seduced you in plain sight,
but I don’t like to kiss and tell;
Stay down-low if it’s substantial;
There’s a cloak around every night,
we can cozy up it’s alright;
Magnetic’s not intentional,
could have seduced;
If you stick around I just might
do something nonconventional;
Admit it I’m sensational,
if your behavior wasn’t trite?
Could have seduced..

I’ll let the pillows style my hair
And my morning breath won’t be fair
If you don’t want me then I don’t care
I’m in a haunting mood of truth beware
I can be who I am within my head
The thoughts I have like spam bleeding red
Of me trying so hard to be perfect
When no one is it’s not even worth it
I’m a girly girl at my best heart
Painting my nails dressing myself so sharp
Wearing my heart on my sleeve like art
Playing the tease using light and dark
But there are days I must be fire
Slaying a dragon and lifting higher
Than worldly things and carnal desire
To be the heroine that I inspire
This Venus mars thing of women and men
Seem like a game I’m not even in
Seems such a shame while he smiles
My brain’s wondering will he stick around
