My words in sonnets, haiku, or "fences"
Only for you my endearing true love
Worry about voice, rhymes, and tenses
Only for you my prettiest pet dove
Carefully I slip each word on your string
Meaningfully picked and perfectly placed
To split your heart open and hear you sing
Sweet, sultry nothings from bosom unlaced
Light in your eyes dispels all my darkness
From your lips honey slips, drips, and oozes
Coats my sorrow and swallows my starkest
Hardest lumps, and my ugliest bruises
I'll write you a sonnet, a song, or haiku
My wild words, I tame only for you ;)

In the abyss, so black and bleak,
I’m swarmed with worry, worn and weak.
Peristaltic walls swallow prey:
A bolus in the bowel’s bay,
I am Jonah, humbled and meek.
During the storm’s most starkest streak,
through sustained strife, I stand and seek
God’s deliverance … while I pray …
… in the abyss.
Slivers of sunlight slowly leak
past my perils, letting me peak
at a rainbow's brightest archway!
God dwells in the places we stay,
even where blessings feel oblique
... in the abyss.

He vanished quickly from her life,
leaving only the faint bruise of
memories and a question that only
the starkest of truths could answer
Why?

I see some strange sights,
a world within the chasm-
slowly filling up,
flooding the fields of imagination.
There is a desert left,
a blip here and there-
finally joined the herd.
So this is what its like-
seeing the allurement,
yet doing nothing more.

I succumb to dazzling splendor.
The sparkle of inner radiance,
filtered through vivid eyes,
stops purpose.
Reason turns reckless.
Love's desires, once drunk,
become life's only goal.
The luster of an innocent,
angelic face
matches timeless words.
Her voice beckons from afar.
A day without its chime,
becomes dull,
devoid of comfort.
Her affection becomes a spark
before the coldest dawn.
To embrace her melts granite.
Kisses from her lips can moisten
the starkest desert.
She has made her mark
on an unseen canvas.
The cascading levels of her thoughts
join vibrant minds.
A permanent tattoo etches my true-hearted soul.
I have become powerless to her branding.

Harvest moon casts silhouette
woman communes with heaven
alone on the starkest path
she feels his presence
Decades passed since his demise
but still she feels one with him
knowing his soul awaits her
in eternal life
Brightness from his loving heart
illuminates her journey
she can surmount challenges
with peace in dark times

A sanctuary beholden to the eyes of the seer,
Open hearted lays a crystal entrance to the golden,
And perhaps an even more extravagant opening,
Lies the broken, wooden entrance for the good.
The moribund dream of it in its starkest slumber,
Yet is within reach for all who yearn.
It lies not on metal, nor stone,
Nor freshly laid yew, stained by paint and human toil.
But by love and grace, forever orbiting,
A pastiche of beauty, greater than the yonder,
For the exultant and the brave,
In the tree of wisdom they shall reign forever.

A unique vision through the camera lens,
Portraits of nature in black and white.
Letting the beauty of contrast speak.
The California Coastline, the Sierras,
The Southwest..all in the starkest outline.
And Yosemite, whose grandeur he loved best.
A life spent capturing these wonders
Letting his work inspire; an incentive
To protect these treasures for all our tomorrows.
