Paean To A Non-Vegetarian

"Eat your veggies," as a nipper I was told
but I'd hide 'em on me lap so Mum wouldn't scold
then all the quicker feed 'em to the dish-licker
before they were even cold
now I'm older not sadder but wiser
and do enjoy a tasty appetiser
they may appear to look like a pear
here's a myth I wish to quash
tho'

Salad Days

I don't know
where iceberg lettuce
winter squash
or snow peas grow
but it seems to me
it's not down there
in Antarctica
where and when it's freezing below
which only goes to show
pointing out if not advising
there's bait and switch in the pitch
and no truth to their advertising

When Squash Sighs

I don't know what to do when it feel this way,
When something feels so important, i can't stand to know it alone.
I want to crawl through each home's focal shrine, the temple TV,
Show them this moment in time.
Because this mutt I found at the shelter,
because world as a whole, i mean hole,
Well, there's

Squash Your Lying Friendship Like a Bug

The fork pitch you use to stab
All your friends with in the back
Is as sharp and torturous
As actions your so notorious
For displaying with two faced grins
Evil lurks under your skin
That is crawling with bad schemes
Followed by heartbreak it seems
Not one day or week goes by
That your dark and evil eyes
Hide a plan for one of

Senryu On Squash Or Pumpkin Patch

I
one seed, so wise
to hide generations of pumpkins
forest of leaves

II

spread out - small garden -
blind tendrils grasp non-leaves

Kabash Should Wash Off Squash

Kabash Should Wash Off Squash

Oh why not can go ahead and kibosh,
And while you are at it start to wash,
Bottom to top;
Do not stop;
Off all of the surface of yellow squash.

Jim Horn

Another cooking poem.

A Winner In Ohana Squash

A Winner in 2017 OHANA Woman Div 1

There I was, on a rollercoaster of anxiety with many an anxious moment...
Each time my player dropped a set against each of her squash opponents...

In the Qfinals she suffered a 3rdset hiccup to a player junior in her years....
Dashing the high hopes that player could wrap

Fading Squash Light

August 28th in Hong Kong Open Squash Championship...

Nicol losing semifinals in Hong Kong, not surprising at all...
What's surprising is her steely determination to excel once more...
For a retriever like her, the writing has been on the wall...
The lowered tin favors attacking players, the emerging younger ones...
They whack and demand winners with each hit at the

An Aging Squash Fan

An Aging Squash Fan

As a father watchful over the progress of a little girl active in a chosen sport..
Little wonder that I am a bag of nerves during competition time for the sport...
That familiar awful queasy feelings churning in the depths of my stomach...
And little twitches of restless energy that makes me such a nervous

Fortifications and Apple Squash

10 parsnip street, thought carrot. Elongated places in wisdom curves. Aromatic spices on compounds and a dramatic twirl from a very energetic spoon whose primary existence is to perform backward flips at many dinner parties. Seal oneself in pastry then. Cavity of ionised fruit bake. Hoe to the garden of ovens. And spade in soup
